I am a senior male who is chemically castrated. I like how I am and how I look, but don't want to have to take meds forever. Thus, I am considering surgical castration. Hi, Smoothie. I was castrated one and a half years ago, when I was 67. I will be 69 in March and don't regret it. Mine was more of a medical necessity but it was something I had wanted done for years. Just had to get to the place where insurance would pay for it (i.e. a medical necessity). It was NOT cancer though.

I was castr. whn I was 65, now next week 69. As well as gandalf I may say it was the best I ever had done.

It was done on free will and had wanted for years too. I have Klinefelter syndrome and was diagnosted when I was 49 yo. If Dr then had told me the option to be castr. I had said YES PLEASE !

If I had known how lovely it is, then if the possible had been at my puberty, it should be done at that age.

I do now since Aug 2001 taken Testogel 50mg/day, and I feel like a "normal" male.

Surely there are more eunuchs who were castrated in their senior years. I want to share their experiences. I am chemically castrated and want to move on to surgical.

What is your definition of a "senior"? I'm now 62, had the first 1/2 thrust upon me at age 61 (documented elsewhere on EA) as a life/death situation, then semi-medical necessity for the remaining removal for a complete castration a few months later, also at age 61. In my opinion, it was the right decision for me, not only because I am alive today, but as a castrated male I am much more at peace with life. If you choose to complete the irreversible process, the most important piece of advice I would offer (given your age) is that of having a very supportive doctor and family help see you through it.
