Severe Testicular Pain

I have now been living with sever testicular pain since early June when I had a bad case mumps. This saw my testicles increase in size, which although may be a turn-on for some, was not the case for me. I am at a loss of what to do or what I can expect from a doctor. This is not funny, its becoming serious and is starting to make me depressed. Being on here, obviously there is a simple way out but that is really not the intention of this post unless, medically that is the only real solution.

Zac, the pain you have may be linked to your bout of mumps. The swelling is known as orchitis. It can cause long lasting effects and permanent damage to your testicles. There are measures that doctors can take to relieve the pain but, be warned that the success rate is not good. Your best choice would be to be seen by a urologist as soon as possible. The passage of time isn't helping your prospects for relief either. Be very insistent in your demands for effective treatment. Perhaps one of the UK members could offer you more specific advice about how to approach the health system. Good luck. --FLO--

Thanks Uncle Flo. I am having difficulty getting my regular doctor to get me an appointment with a urologist. But I am going to be persistent.

Hi Zac,
At the age of 16, I had the mumps for the second time. My right testicle swelled up greatly. I was in serious pain for a long time too. But eventually the swelling went down and more eventually the pain went away. My left testicle made up for the difference. I have an extremely large left testicle. I know the pain you are going through.

Hey there. I can't describe the pain that I have / am putting up with and I need to do something about it. The question I guess is what !?

Zac,
I am sure if you talked to the right Urologist, they would remove the testicle. I was only 16 at the time and my parents refused to take me to a doctor so I just suffered it out. It took a real long time before there was zero pain but it did happen eventually. Today, that testicle is more like a knot has been tied in the cord. That is just how small it is. Either you toughen up and live it out till there is no pain or you get to some urologists. I was not on Androcur when I had the mumps and I am not sure what complications that can add to your problem. Maybe you best go to a urologist and fess up that you are on Androcur too.

I know in my heart you are right. I just hate being judged and most in the medical profession do just that. I was taking Androcur when I got the mumps and continued to be on it throughout the condition. Both of my testicles were swollen and its both that are giving me sever pain. Right now the pain is making me feel sick, which is around the level that I have been living with since June 2006. Straight after mumps I had a fertility test. The results were 'within the norm' but on the lower side, which also confused the hell out of me because of the Androcur. One thing that was noted, my 'production', ie amount of 'cum' was significanly lower than normal.

Went to the doctors. Very uneventful. He thinks I have an infection and has prescribed me some antibiotics... a months supply. After a month, if there is not change, he's going to make an appointment for me to see a urologist.

You probably shouldn't wait a month. It sounds like your doctor doesn't know what the problem is, but a good urologist may. If you don't notice a decrease in swelling very soon, then you should insist on seeing a urologist. It shouldn't take very long at all for the effects of the antibiotic to become noticeable, maybe a week.

The doctor said I needed a months course of antibiotics because it too a while for the drugs to reach the infected area.
