Windows XP Pro annoying folder behavior

Has anyone who has to suffer with Windows XP Pro ever noticed this?
When you are in a folder, and you delete a file, it shows that it is still there until you right click in the blank area and hit REFRESH? Only then does the deleted file go away? You drag a file into a new folder, and it shows as still there in the old folder? You make a new folder, and it shows as not there until you refresh? You name the new folder, hit ENTER, and it's still called "new folder" until you refresh?
Also, there is always a full recycle bin icon, and when you empty it, it says "Do you really want to delete Windows?" Opening the bin shows nothing in it. Half of the time, you can't even explore the Recycle bin - the system crashes.
Also, every single time you open a folder, Windows has to struggle and dig to come up with the icons that open files. For instance, JPG files...set to open with Photoshop. You sit and wait and wait for the little icon to come up next to each file name, because Windows can't remember what to open them with?
And don't even try to put 200 image files in one folder and then open it. You won't get it open.
I never had these problems with Win 2k pro. When you delete a file, it's gone. When you move one, it moves. When you arrange files by name, etc., they move. Not with XP! Not until you refresh 2 or 3 times can it get it right.
Just curious to know. This problem version HAS had all the updates, by the way.
