Hunger

I have been on the patch and Spironolactone 100mg x2 for a few months now and have just recently felt a noticeable increase in hunger. I eat then a few hours later I feel hungry again. I eat before I sleep then wake up and almost feel like I am starving... I have not weighted myself yet but before I started my regime I weighted about 180-185 LBS. Then as I started my route my weight slowly dropped, along with muscle mass, to around 170LBS ish. I have not weighted myself yet but the lowest weight I ever reached was almost 165 LBS and I am 5'11".

Anyways my question is.. has anyone else experienced heavy hunger as you were on your HRT?. I have been eating quite a bit more but have tried other solutions like a vitamin shake.. I hear that your body burns through Vitamin E when it begins to transform.. I have vitamin E pills but do not really take them very often, once a week?.

Also i was told to stay away from Orange Juice because of it's high potassium content since Spironolactone makes you keep more potassium in your body. What other things should I stay away from?.

On a side note, my doctor says I should now take the usual x2 100mg Spironolactone tablets + 2-3 1mg tablets of Finpecia (Finasteride) in divided dose, morning and evening. It is a generic propecia drug. Could anyone give me any good .. or bad .. feed backs on this new drug I am being placed on? I will really appreciate it.

Doctor says that without finasteride my results will only minimally improve. Something about a powerful form of testosterone (DHT) called dihydrotestosterone that maintains the masculine state-even in very small quantities.

I forgot to add that just recently I have herd of this hair treatment using minoxidil 5% with tretinoin 0.025 % - 0.05% (Retin-A). Supposively it really helps with growing your hair and gaining whatever hair you have lost from DHT. The same I herd for a skin cream having Tretinoin (Retin-A) 0.1 mg (with vitamin E) to speed up skin resurfacing and diminish blotchiness, sun spots, etc. Any recommendations?.

Minoxidil did work for me to lightly regrow some hair loss around the temples. However, when I started using it I had no adverse reaction, but after about five months it started to irritate my scalp immediately. I eventually stopped using it.

Also the effect was somewhat minor -- definitely a lot of "baby hairs" filled in the thin areas, but it wasn't a full return of hair either.
