It Just Looks Like a Penis Pump Mom (http://www.comcast.net/news/strange/ind ... 62396.html)

CHICAGO - A Cook County judge has decided there is enough evidence to prosecute a man who says an airport security guard misheard him when she thought he said that a sexual device in his backpack was actually a bomb.

Mardin Amin claims he actually told the guard the small, black object was a "pump" _ as in a penis pump.

Amin's attorney said her client was embarrassed to explain the object in front of his mother, who was traveling with him, so he whispered. The guard misunderstood, and thought he said "bomb," according to defense attorney Eileen O'Neill-Burke.

"His mother is standing there so, under his breath, he says, 'It's a pump. Put it away. Put it away,'" O'Neill-Burke told The Associated Press on Thursday. The guard asked him again and he repeated that the object was a pump, the attorney said.

O'Neill-Burke added that Amin, an Iraqi, has a thick accent and she herself had trouble understanding him until he brought the pump to her office and showed it to her. She said she recently learned that Arabic speakers sometimes have trouble distinguishing the sounds "p" and "b."

However, Judge Gerald Winiecki decided there was sufficient evidence for the case to move forward after the female security guard testified that she heard Amin "clearly" say the word bomb on Aug. 16 at O'Hare International Airport.

Amin, 29, of Skokie, is charged with felony disorderly conduct and faces up to three years in prison if convicted. He was released on $75,000 bond and is due back in court Sept. 13. O'Neill-Burke said he will plead not guilty then.

Amin told the Chicago Sun-Times after the hearing that security officials did not give him a chance to explain the misunderstanding, that he would never use the word "bomb" while going through a security checkpoint, and does not consider a penis pump an unusual object to own.

"It's normal," he said. "Half of America they use it."

Isn't approximately 1/2 of America female?

Does everybody but ME use one of the damned things?

Does this mean that I am NOT normal like Paolo always claimed?

OMG! 🥴

What's his problem?

Mother might take them away?

Mother might use them and enjoy them?

Oh, poor boy - one of those "things" made you, you know.

MAybe he was afraid that the agent would lift them from his suitcase and wave it around yelling - Hey everyone, look at this. I got a real perv here!

Grow up and be a man. ;)

Pack them in a FedEx box and send them two days before you leave, surely you don't need them the night before. ;)

And take the batteries out, they corrode and no one likes to deliver a vibrating package.

What if you don't want to admit you're an American?

Go back to France

I am in the process of applying for my working papers in France now, but what I do with my life is none of your business, Sir.

Stud, I think that an appropriate reply to the provocation which produced it, but I hope you have not lost sight of the fact that your welfare matters to many of us here. You have made valuable (and valued) contributions to our lives through your posts, your stories and your website, and we sincerely wish you well in whatever you decide to do.

I find nothing worthy of criticism in your desire to work in France. Many thousands of Americans are voluntary expatriots and have been for years, for a variety of honorable reasons. My own experiences with travel have left me with the opinion that people who avoid travel do so because they lack either the means or the opportunity or a cultural background or experience that encourages travel. My sojourn in Germany left me with a much deeper understanding of the culture in which my German ancestors had been raised and of the atrocities which the Nazi party induced the German people to commit against themselves as well as against their neighbors. It also left me with immense gratitude to my ancestors for their courage in emmigrating.

Frankly, I think you may be able to live the American Ideal more fully in France than you can in the US at present. Go for it, and God bless!

Patient, thank you for your kind remarks. It is always nice to be acknowledged and being a teacher, that is something one rarely gets!

As for my desire to live and work in France, it's not just the fact that our country has gone so far to Right (please don't anyone start anything about this, ok?), but it is the fact that I realized that since I was 14 years of age, I am a duck out of water. If I lived in NYC, I probably wouldn't feel as I do as there is so much culture there, e.g. NY Phil, Met Opera not to mention the countless other musical events that go on, plus the plays, Broadway and the fact that NYC has this attitude of "live and let live" which America in general does not have, save California.

I have lived my life in US but I want to expand my horizons linguistically, musically and "faire de la cuisine."

What strikes me about the immigrants of the 19th Century such as your German and my German ancestors is the courage. What strikes me now is the courage some Americans have to leave as if this were a reversal of why those brave souls came to America.

As for the provocation this post has produced (as the others), that seems to be the story of my life. I do that in real life as well as here, and many times it is untentional. I simply make a statement and all hell tends to break loose.

Thanks for the good wishes and I only hope that the dream for my son and me will be realized.
