Well, I've been doing some research. If one were to use Real Player and Real Producer to compress the files, you could really cut down the bandwith and space. Real compression is 16:1 which means 1min of audio only uses 59k of space! Lets say most of the storys are about 3mins long, you could store somewhere around 70 files on 12mb of space. The fact that these are Real files means the user can choose themselves whether they want to download it or or just stream it. I'd be happy to take this upon as a little project seeing as how you can get 12mb of free space from http://50mb-space.50megs.com < least start out with. The real only downsides to using 50mb are files would be limited to 4:20 or 256K and there is a 512 MB bandwidth limit. Idealy, people could just record the storys with "Sound Recorder," save it, and email it to someone to be converted to Real and then uploaded. The only problem is that I too use dialup and i could not accomadate the download time of those initial files to be converted. I could, however, explain to someone how to do it who has a nice pretty cable or DSL line and maybe this will work out afterall! That way, it wouldnt eat the eunuch space or bandwith. I can't do it all myself, but I'd sure like to try with some help :-)
