Chemical Castration with Androcur
Well I've decided to go ahead and start my chemical castraiton. I've decided to go with Androcur. I wondered if you could offer any advice and what measure I should take to start with, also what are the main physical effects that will occur.

Re: Chemical Castration with Androcur
Wish you luck with your choice. I did androcur for over 2.5 years before my castration. I have thread on some of my experiences. Most guys seem to take 100mg a day. I know of some that only needed 50mg a day. I needed to take 150mg a day to shut my hormones down. Best to have a blood test done to see where your starting at.Drew1974 (imported) wrote: Wed Jul 05, 2006 12:30 pm Well I've decided to go ahead and start my chemical castraiton. Drew, Good luck with your choice. If you use the Search Engine on this site also
for Androcur, chemical castration....you will have enough to read for a long time to come. Choosing chemical castration right now will give you the option of
continuing with it or rejecting it and returning to virility.
Androcur is available on prescription and if you are in touch with your Doctor, he will advise you. Prescribed packets come with a warning that Androcur can cause drowsiness and you are advised not to operate machinery or to drive.
You will notice changes but these are all well recorded here. You will achieve chemical castration, for sure, with Androcur.

Re: Chemical Castration with Androcur
PATIENCE !!! You won't notice any change for the first week or so. In fact, for the first couple days the idea of being on chemical castration may make you extra horny. In a week to ten days you should see results. DO NOT up your dosage for at least ten days. I started at 100 mg a day then dropped to 50 mg a day after ten days, and it worked fine for me. You may find that at 50 mg you can still get (kind of) erect if stimulated, but you're not a constant horndog. The lower dose will also produce fewer and milder hot flashes. At 50 mg I feel like a person, not a walking libido.
Good Luck !

Re: Chemical Castration with Androcur
I have been on Androcur for well over two years now. I originally started at 100 mg. per day and recently increased to 150 mg. per day. With the increase I noticed more changes. Whether I will ever seek castration or someday just give up and go back to having T again, I don't know. I do know that living with a partner that is castrated, makes it difficult to have hormones. It is best I try to get castrated also.

Do you start to develop breasts once you've been on the Androcur for a while, I'm aware about the hot flushes and tiredness!! I'll be going to the gym often.

No, you won't develop breasts by just taking Androcur. There was one period of about a month or so that my breasts hurt everyday. But they never developed. I have not noticed any weight gain while on Androcur but then I am an active person.

Re: Chemical Castration with Androcur
I have been on Androcur for 7 months now and I have not developed any breasts. My nipples did get more sensitive and seems to stand up all the time.
However, I have read accounts of people who did develop breasts.
After doing some research on the Internet, I found that some prostate cancer patients on Androcur had to be proscribed an anti-aestrogen called Tamoxifen to counter the development of breasts. Tamoxifen also helps prevent development of osteoporosis -- a potential serious side effect from taking Androcur alone.
Preventing osteoporosis is why make doctors prescribe a low dose of oestrogen to go along with Androcur. But adding oestrogen to Androcur, however, will almost certainly push the development of breasts.
Since breast development or osteoporosis are not my objectives, I found tamoxifen very interesting and have just started supplementing Androcur with it.
