When a surgeon does a castration, how long does it take her to perform the surgery?

When a surgeon performs a castration on a man, how long does it take her to perform the surgery? From the time she begins making the incision untill she sews up the empty scrotum, how long does it usually take her?
I'm sure it varies some from doctor to doctor and from patient to patient, but on average how long?

Mine was somewhere between one hour and 1-1/2 hours.
can't say I was looking at the clock all that much. I had more blissful thoughts occuring in my head at the time.

I only had my remaining testicle removed by Dr. Kimmel back in March, it took less than 20 minutes after he had numbed the area. I heard him tell a mother, who was waiting for her 20 something son, that he could do a complete castration in half an hour. Not that he was trying for a speed record, but he's in his seventies. Kimmel cuts through the scrotum and severs the testicle from the cord. Other urologists go through the top of the groin area, there is a word for it but do you think I can remember? Hash

Wow, that 20 year old must have really pissed off his Mom! Talk about strict punishment! Eh, he probably deserved it. LoL.

I don't think that one should have this surgery done in an office. An outpatient surgery center is needed.
Check this (
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/quer ... t=Citation) site out to see if you can get your questions answered.
More surigical information is found here. (

One should not ignore the body image (
http://www.ahalmaas.com/glossary/g/genital_hole.htm) aspects of castration.
I will post an article (
http://www.georgetown.edu/labyrinth/con ... rvine.html) regarding Abelard here and in the appropriate place in the archive.

To numnuts,
The twenty something son was/is a transsexual. It was interesting to meet the mother and this twenty something son's siblings/friends who were all waiting for him in the waiting room. I was waiting with them. The mother called him her son and then also her daughter. It was a little strange. I did not meet the 20 something son, I was ushered in to the surgical area as soon as he walked out. Hash

: A quick note. Actually going in through the scrotum is an easier and clearer path. It is also a quicker heal. My doc tried to go in from the top and one of the testicles was lodged in such a way he had to go into the bottom to finish the job. Also the scars on the top are very long. They cover one side of the stomach to the other, while the scotum cut is small and not seen. spankey2

For me , they were removed one at a time, but each time, the total procedure was less than a 1/2 hour.

I know this is a bit off topic, but it remembers me a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau some years ago.
There was, unfortunately, a time in Germany, with "Deutsche Grûndlichkeit", castrations were performed in 6 or 7 minutes.
http://andrejkoymasky.com/mem/holocaust/06/ho06m.html
http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jso ... ation.html
"... I have convinced myself, operative castration requires not more than 6 to 7 minutes, and therefore can be performed more reliably and quicker than castration by X-rays."
And possibly these inhumane acts are still done in other countries, probably more eastwards ....
Just a thought ...
