How long did your simple castrations take to heal?

How long did your simple castrations (i.e. no scrotum removal) take to heal?

In my case, I was castrated on June 7 (20 days ago) by Dr. Kimmel. A small hole opened in the bottom of my scrotum (prematurely dissolving stitching?) about 1 week post-op, although it's getting smaller now. My scrotum itches in some places.

Full healing for me took about 3 weeks. I should add that my sugery consisted of small incisions (~2 cm ea) in each side of the sac and not the longer midline incision that I understand Kimmel makes. There were significant milestones in the process. Bruising disappeared after about 5 days. Swelling decreased after maybe a week longer. At 3 weeks all drainage had stopped and the wounds were healed - and almost disappeared. All of us are different. I recall speaking to others around the time in which healing took up to 8 weeks.

I was castrated 12/06 and still had drainage that Christmas. The reason I remember is while visiting my sisiter her dog sniffed my crotch and caught the scent of the drainage. They had to put the dog in the basement to keep it out of my crotch. I thought I was going to be revealed as a eunuch by the dog. Incisions heal from the ends to the center so it is not that uncommon to have a small opening. I did not plan well and did not have the time to rest for the first few days so I had drainage longer than I would have. Itching is common any time an incision is healing. Also having shaved for the procedure hair growing back can cause itching. If I remember correctly it was about 6 weeks before I was totally healed. Working in health care for many years 6 weeks is a normal length of time for an incision to heal. People who are diabetics will take a longer time to heal.

Like yours, my scrotum popped a stitch or two, which made the healing process a few days longer. All in all it took about four/five weeks. The cord will take a lot longer to disolve. I was castrated back in March and I can still feel the cord. I don't know if it will ever disolve totally. Hash

It took about one week for everything to heal for me and was back doing yard work in a week.I had no drainage and not to much swelling I have to say this operation was done in the hospital under very very clean conditions.I think this had a lot to do with how fast i recovered. Also the cords were never cut the inside of the testical was taken out and the shell left. This makes for a fast recovery.
