Could a novel based upon a fictional candestined effort to re-create Castrati by the old-fashioned method make it in mainstream literature?

WE have serial killers, mass murders of all sorts, nuclear terrorism novels where many are killed. What is the sacredness of castration as a subject when we have gruesome mass-murder novels that we don't think anything about reading or writing or making into hollywood movies?

Why are we so centered on abuse when murder is just given a passing disgusted expression. People just disappear (http://www.aruba.com/holloway/index.htm) and the outrage is rationalized away (http://www.kuro5hin.org/story/2006/4/19/214740/240) by cold-hearted idiots. The same idiots, I might add, who would rip their clothing and pound their chest about a fictional castration.

Meanwhile, nobody knows (http://www.bargain-mall.com/Forum/forum ... Forum.aspx) what happened and all sorts of speculation (http://www.bargain-mall.com/Forum/forum ... wPost.aspx) exists.

Children dissappear (http://www.progressiveu.org/190000-why-natalie-holloway) every day. We ignore what actually happens and we condemn the fiction.

So, who wants to write the novel? Shall we make a group effort with each one of us writing a chapter or two?

Good points, this kind of thing drives me nuts. Absolutely anything to do with kids is met with the most extreme of paranoia. As ridiculous as it seems, such a book would get slaughtered by the r.r.

That being said, I always get hungry when reading one of your posts. For even though I know A-1 refers to your quality, I simply can not get steak sauce out of my mind.

Actually, it started out as Anonymous+1.

Then, (probably because I am me ), it went to Anonymous - 1.

Finally, it was shortened to A-1.

I , I am thinking that a good story line might be based on the "male pill" concept where the man undergoes procedures to a) cause him to be totally impotent, b) have a diminished desire for sex, c) in some cases acceptance of wearing woman's clothes, d) a desire to be around women without sexual arrousal. In some cases, perhaps, the ability to accept sex with a man without a problem. I might write such a story.

I've been working on a book aimed at the kid market. One of the main characters is a gelding...he's a horse, though.

Close enough, A-1?!

Of course, involving Time Travel, our hero could always end up giving Farinelli a lift to the opera...

Maybe they can burn a little Oscar Wilde or Marquis De Sade. The ideas will not go away. Recognizing that they exist may even save a child from a horrble fate. Or a psycho religious nut case...
