Effects of stopping estrogen/progesterone

I'm wondering if anyone knows what happens if you take estrogen/progesterone to develop breasts and once developed you stop the hormones. Do you lose the breasts? Will they turn into "man boobs" or will they keep their feminine shape?
I'm a male who would like breasts but don't want to live full-time as a transgender woman. I'm an effimate man but I want to have breasts and be somewhere in between male and female. Sometimes I go in public dressed as a women: skirt, shaved legs, makeup, etc, but sometimes I like to be a man and just hang out.
My goal is to be able to fill out a bikini top. Is this possible with temporary use of hormones? Or, would I have to take them permanently?

Dear eunnie2006,
From my own research, it is my understanding that whatever breast development you achieve by taking estrogen will remain with you even if you stop taking the hormone, so be careful if you don't want your breasts to become too large.

I may be corrected, but I've understood that what you're suggesting is often exactly what transvestites and she-males do to achieve their status.

When I finally decided to go for it I took the hormones, my breast grew to about the same size as my mother and sisters. I started lactating my endo told me my female hormone levels were going crazy so I have cut way back on the hormones now, I have lost some of the puffyness but my breast tissue remains I have settled somewhere between a "B" and "C" cup.

Well my experence has been with estrace and provera and motillium. I grew a B cup with estrace and provera and spirolatone. The motillium started them to lactate. When I stopped, they remained the B cup. I really like them.

Wow cool!
Well I'm approaching an A cup, I have cup and I have curves and my nipples are SORE SORE SORE but it feels good, like they are being stretched...
I was lactating a LOT so I backed off to 2mg per day, and once I hit a b cup I'll slow down and then stop.......that's where I want to be......
It just feels natural.
What about the backside? I never had a butt until I started taking these and now I do, and thighs - somehow I'm thinking those will trim back out (I'm rather lean) - I like having the curves I have........will those go away?
Thanks a bunch, I needed to hear that!! I was worried they would go away permanently back to flat

Instead of taking estrogen and then stopping, another option is to take no hormones at all and get breast implants. Supposedly the disadvantage with taking estrogen and then stopping is your breasts will start to sag, like a menopausal woman's.
I don't know how good it would feel to get implanted breasts stroked, compared to self-grown ones.

To my knowledge, the reason breasts sag is many reasons, the main ones are just plain gravity and no muscle.

I don't know if there will be loss of mass after stopping Estrogen. I am still injesting it, initially for bone health, but now if I am honest I like the effects both physical and mental and have no intention of stopping yet. My breasts are full, round and with enlarged nipples and areoles. They are extremely sensitive to touch and having my nipples stimulated is very pleasurable. I cannot go braless in anything but very baggy clothes and them jiggling about is not the most comfortable feeling. Clothes irritate my nipples and can cause them to become erect( Embarassing).Tieing them down is downright painful but is sometimes my only option. Wearing a bra is by far the most comfortable option other than being topless without any outer garment when the feeling of freedom can be appreciated. How big can I go? My mother and sister are both full D cups on slim frames. I can fill a B cup in some styles so who knows.

In my experience pretty much everything I have read has happened. I was on patches for about 6 months. My body responded really well to the E. I underwent all of the changes that are usually discribed. Softer skin, some fat distribution, more emotionally tuned in, a sense of calm and well being, and of course breast growth. I have been off E for over 6 months now. Most of the changes have reverted about 80%, except for some of the mental and emotional things which seem to be lingering, and of course my breasts. They have become a bit less "puffy" but my areolas are larger now, and I still have about 90% or better of what I had on the E. It is clear that they are permanent and I am very pleased that is the case. It is important to remember that once you take E even for a relatively short time frame you will under go irreversable changes. Also note that there is a bit of an addictive nature to it as well, it is really hard to stop, and for me it is inevetable that I will get back on in the near future.
