Overheating: Life as a Eunuch

Not having Testosterone flowing in the blood stream for over 6 months, gave up the cream and shots; I found my body unable to regulate its temperature. Today for example, with the temperature reaching 85, I felt it was close to 100. Perspiration soaked my tee shirt in 20 minutes and in 40 minutes I drank 24 ounces of fluids. After mowing the front and back yard, edging and weed eating I was over come by exhaustion. One would have thought I was going to pass out from overheating and/or exhaustion.

Only those who live the Eunuch life without Testosterone in their blood stream please respond to the poll question. I am interested in knowing my life is not alone.

As a eunuch for less than one week, I will decline to vote. Maybe in many months, assuming the poll is still there, I will reconsider based on experiences. The real reason for replying is that I really appreciate this kind of information because it helps me plan/prepare for the future. I'm just curious, if your t-shirt was soaked, why not just take it off and let the perspiration evaporate a bit more naturally?

Robby, next time put on a sweat shirt, yes you herd me, you will actually be much cooler.

Loss of energy, yep. that one for sure but the heat does not seem to bother me.

No testosterone for 4.5 yrs - :) forgot it was that long.

Screw em if they dont like seeing a glaring white fat boy, i take my shirt off anyway. I show 'em leg too, and wear short pants. Such a manner of dress for a nun, but what the hell.

I do experience increases in heat intolerance with low/no T. Reminds me of the old TV show "Sweathogs..." whatever the show was. I do tire more easily, but am still able to maintain a fairly good energy level most of the time. Just need to rest a bit more often.

Sorry, Robby, when I voted, your message about not voting if I ingest testosterone was not evident, only the poll itself. Perhaps the notice should be built into the poll question.

Thanks for posting anyway. I think it's valuable for all of us to learn from each other. I think I recall feeling as you when I was hypogonadic. I've felt much better with testosterone, initially injections, but AndroGel for about 2 years now. My only variation is that I've reduced the cream dosage from 5 to 3.75 g. That doesn't seem to have affected me. While I've managed to shed weight - about 25 #s since commencing treatments - and think that exercise is as responsible as anything, I'm willing to accept that increased testosterone injection and a higher base metabolism is part of why I've been able to lose and then maintain a fairly decent weight for my height (140 #s at 5'9").

While the advice about wearing a sweat shirt may be sage, I'd not be too concerned about shedding your shirt when you're too hot. It's a very valuable male privelege that needs to be preserved.

And 85F is hot. My trusty calculator tells me it's 29C. I'd definitely have my shirt off if I was working outside - being very careful not to burn of course. The warmest we've seen here on the left coast north of the 49th lat this spring are temperatures in the low 20s. That was several weeks ago. It's been rainy/coudy for 2 weeks with highs in the mid-teens.

Best of luck.

Robby I voted for low energy levels. I do have to explain that I have low energy levels for the day to day chores I need to do. Of course if I am doing something I really like to do I have energy for days. So for me it seems to be more of the outlook I take about a task.

I have always been one of those people who perspire easily. I seem to be affected more by humididty than heat. Heat/humidity does not cause me fatigue just more sweat. I love when I visit the SW and I am in areas with low humidity. I enjoy the heat without all the sweat. I do find that I am almost always warm. I have not had to wear a heavy winter coat for years now. I am so warm that I would like to visit the ice hotel in Quebec City. Rooms with an average temp of 16 degrees sounds about right.

I have never used HRT replacemet since castration in 12/97.

Although I am "intact" I'm also non-functional. I've just started HRT and I can tell the difference. I have more energy and I'm uncomfortable at 90F but not nearly as much as before HRT. Also, no hot flashes. Wife and daughter no longer shout "No, it's not hot in here!". So, I voted both since without HRT it's undoubtedly true. --FLO--

RiverI tried the sweat shirt idea today, 92 as the high, and almost burnt my brain... 👀

My body has lost its ability to regulate heat at the moment. Not sure what
