Castration in the Movies
IMDB has listed about 119 movies with castration as either a central theme or a theme in the film. I haven't seen most of these films. The list can be seen at: http://university.imdb.com/keyword/castration/

Re: Castration in the Movies
I have been trying to find the complete, unedited, copy of the 1932 movie "Freaks".
It is about carnival side show entertainers. The interesting sub-story is that the carnival "freaks" castrate the one called Hercules. The castration scene is suppose to be quite realistic. Too realistic to have been done using 1932 special effects.
The final scene in the movie, is Hercules' new act; singing soprano.

Re: Castration in the Movies
Is this the movie where there is a man with no appendages, only head and body, who is seen lighting a cigarette for himself ?
Also where there I think three females with heads sloped back so steeply above their eyes that they appear to have no cranium ?
I often wondered what that film was called

You could add "Hidalgo" to the list. While castration is not the central theme, there is a great attempted castration scene: Hidalgo is a true story of an American mustang stallion that took on and beat the Arabians at there own game, enurance racing back in 1890, 'The Ocean of Fire' 3,000 mile race. The Sheik who is the da man, you can tell would like to geld the horse, but has a crack at his rider when he thinks he has dishonored his daughter. Frank T. Hopkins played by none other than Viggo Mortesen is about to become two stone lighter. The castrator arrives and opens a very interesting 'tool box' with the leering grin (of a person who obviously enjoys his work) that would strike terror into the crotch of any young stud! The fun begins when he reaches down and grabs young Viggo's jewels! watch it and see!
