Enron Creeps

The thought of anyone dying in prison appalls me. However, Kenneth Lay and Jeff Skilling seem to have earned the right to die in prison. Regrettably, they are not likely to find their way to Colorado. Those creeps robbed people of their retirement benefits. They stole from investors. The government did not prosecute them for manipulating electric power prices. Apparently, that was legal.

I suppose that they will eventually win some sort of appeal. One hopes that they have the dignity to commit suicide. They are as much "pure evil" as serial killers are. They kill the spirit and the labor of good people.

Dear Blaise and all EA.

When the Enron thing started I bougth some penny stock to show my support. Well as the sucker I am , the Ameritrade showed me how far it went down etc. But I still think

that since all "on top" does "these things" -- what do You say - just a few get caught.

We should have a system that all Political Candidates gets to run for office "for free" with

TV and Newspaper space DONATED to them and maybe a FOOD ALLOWANCE. Then their salary , when they get elected will maybe pay them some back, and the pride to serve the Country is the main focus, isn't it ??? N3RF

I am not certain what you mean. The Enron scandal does involve extensive but maybe indirect involvement by people in government. I am not aware of any criminal conduct by people in government regarding the Enron scandal.

Yes that is a good point. But how long did the "top guys" know about it and how many other "financial geniuses" use the same outline of "operating" is the mystery I don't think is a mystery at all. But who will tell is the other mystery..N3RF

Okay, mayby no one is "pure evil." However, Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling seem no better than John Gotti or Ted Bundy.

n3rf,

You know, this sounds like a good plan. However, you will find after some research that generally, it takes more to conduct a political campaign for office that is paid in salary throughout the political term. 👀

The perks of life-long health insurance, retirement with a pemanent outrageous salary guarantee "the good life" but you must be rich to qualify in the first place. Furthermore, most get rich while in office either from "business investments" or from employment outside of their political job as consultants and soforth. :-\

Sure, it has to be done in the "politically correct legal manner", but it does happen. Remember the Clintons and the commodity trading deals that made them millionaires? 😄

You see, it is all "a wink and a smile" business with little chance of being properly appreciated unless experienced. Even after they are booted out of office by the electorate they usually end up in lobbys, big business or prestegious law firms, and they still have significant contacts in the legislative circles. Some have even been appointed court judges. 🙄

...once a politician, always a politician... :D

The current president inherited his influence. He "became" wealthy before he became president. The news media have publicized his dealings. Kevin Phillips has written about the Bush family and its relationships with the oil lobby.

President Carter actually lost money while he was in office. He was not able to run his business while he was president. He has made a good living as a writer. Apparently, he got little special treatment as a former president. He writes in a lucid style.

I do not begrudge our political leaders living well. President Ford deserved a good living. President Truman did not become a wealthy man afther his service to the nation.

A bunch of business people made then future President Eisenhower well-to-do before he was president.

✂️🔪 SNIP!

Let us see, AH! Yes! Gerry Ford. The Savior of America! 🙏

:withstupi

Eagle Scout, 33rd Degree Mason, college football star and all-American hero. 🙄

As a junior represenative from Michigan Gerald R. Ford sat on the Warren Commission and helped us accept the "lone nut theory" as a fact. 😱

Later, Senator Ford was appointed vice-President under Richard M. Nixon when Spiro T. Agnew had to resign the vice-presidency due to some unfortunate problems. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiro_Agnew) 🍑👋

Then WATERGATE and BOOM! Gerald R. Ford becomes the only president of the United States who not only was not elected either vice-president OR President, he once again SAVES America from a horrible international spectacle by pardoning Richard M. Nixon. 🤮

Yes, Gerald R. Ford. He was something, all right...he deserved to be paid... :D

After all, anybody who was praised by Senator Edward Kennedy, 🥴 (http://www.jfklibrary.org/Education+and ... ennedy.htm) has to be wonderful, don't you think? :-\ GO FIGURE... 🙇

Ah yes! Politics does make strange bedfellows... 🤫

Choose your poison. The TRUTH about JFK will never be known. Just like Marilyn Monroe's barbituate retention enema. The moral of the story is, you fuck America's leaders and somebody will really get into your shit. Of course, that is, unless you can arrange a COUP D'TAT. Well, you pick your conspiracy theory and we'll pick it apart.

That way you are distracted while the prices of gasoline skyrocket...HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!
