Androcur versus Spironolactone
Androcur versus Spironolactone
Curious as to what the differences are.... they are often painted with
the same brush but are they in fact different. Dosages, effects,
things to recommend one over the other?
As all of you know my decision has been made for Depo-Provera but I am trying to learn more about all the chemicals that can be used.

You will supposedly piss more often when on Spiro. This will make continuous night sleep difficult. However, This effect does not seem to happen significantly for me. Then again, I take a 25mg dose per 3 days[Coz I do not want much muscle loss]. How is my regiment?

That's the last thing I need is to piss all night long. I don't want to lose muscle tone as I have been a body builder for years now. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
As stated in another post I have chose Depo-Provera.

Re: Androcur versus Spironolactone
To clarify further..
Spiro is an anti-hypertension med. And the mechanism is to reduce water in the body, thereby achieving that effect. With a smaller base amount of water too, any additional water you drink, your body will quickly get rid of to return to that base. If the base amount is larger, there is more tolerance for fluctuations.
The muscle tone part is actually related to the amount of Testosterone..won't Depo have the same effect too?

Ah! Makes more sense now.
Yes, Depo will have the same effect and that means I will just have to work out harder (pun intended).

Re: Androcur versus Spironolactone
Let us look at some very cold facts about castration.
If you are castrated and do not take male hormone replacement drugs you will experience the effects of castration. The degree you experience will vary from one person to another. If anyone tells you anything different they are just plane wrong. If you plan on keeping your muscle tone and strength and be without male hormones you will with out question loose some of your muscle mass and strength. The male hormone has direct effect on muscle. Why do you thing some people take testosterone when they want to increase the stamina and strength. So the reverse is just as much the same. Low testosterone will decrease the muscles. No matter how much you work out you will loose muscle. Yes you can minimize the loss some by working out that much harder. The physical characteristic of muscle will change with the absence of testosterone.
You will experience the other effects as well. Here are just a few of them
Reduced libido
Weaker erection or possible impotent
Changes in the skin
Breast growth
Nipple growth
Less body hair and thinner. (the more you start with the less the effect will be)
Less face hair
Osteoporosis is a real possibility. I know a good many eunuch that got osteoporosis in as little as a few years of being an eunuch
Sexual desire will change
Depression will be present. The degree changes greatly from one person to another.
Weight gain is very much a possibility. 10-20 pounds is very common I here.
Loss of energy will occur. Testosterone is an energy hormone
You will have mental changes that will take place. Varies greatly between people.
Eunuch calm may happen and then again it may not happen.
Aggression will be less but again varies greatly.
This is just a short list of effects. If you want to be an eunuch then you have to accept all the side effects. You are very smart in wanting to try out castration with drugs first. For many guys they find that they just can not live without testosterone running through their veins. I know of many that had to go on testosterone or want to but can not afford the high price of it. I had my hormone levels tested before I started my chemical castration drugs. Year later I was tested again and found out that I was not fully shutdown. I had to take a dose higher of the castration drug then what many guys needed to take. I had the third hormone test taken prior to my castration and was at castration levels. I noticed no difference from the chemical castration effects and the real thing. With out question castration will change your life for good.

Bobbie, I thank you for taking the time to write this and in such clear detail.
At the present moment, I really do not want physical castration. I figured that with chemical castration, I should at least be able to feel some of the effects if not calm down for a while. I had my testosterone checked 6 weeks ago and the levels the doc said are extrememly high. He was quite impressed. Perhaps why I can't get sleep with these sexual fantasies keeping me awake excessive masturbation.
I do fear the muscle loss but I suppose on at least a temporary basis I will
have to deal with that.

Re: Androcur versus Spironolactone
By adjusting the amount of chemical castration drug you should be able to get some of the results you desire.
I wish you all the luck in this.

Re: Androcur versus Spironolactone
See my post about Cypreterone - I took 50mg and after 2 weeks it was probably at full strength for me.
Again, funny how for me, I enjoy the sexual side effects of the HRT so the loss of libido kind of took a lot of it away for me.......not all, but once a week vs once a day was fine.......
I gained 20lbs and only last week lost the last of it - you'll have to stay very active - and I *am* very active but still gained it, and a larger grocery bill!!
I went from 167 to 187 in about 1-2 months, but when it wears off it goes pretty fast.....
