How I made my decision to be castrated
Again I've been thinking things through the last few days, and few days is an overstatment. I had put off getting my last remaining testicle removed for at least two, maybe even three years. I saw several urologists, endocrinologists, regular physicians, etc. during these years due to pain in this abused testicle. Not one ever suggested I get it removed, not one. So I just learned to endure it until last Sunday night. Something clicked in my head and I said to myself, "What are you waiting for?" It might have been some posts that I read about Dr. Kimmel that prompted the question, but I answered it by saying, "It's time to go see Dr. Kimmel again." Monday morning I called his office at 9:30, Mary took my message and said she'd have the doctor call me. Dr. Kimmel is usually in surgery Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, so I knew it would be a long time before he got back to me. At 4pm he still had not called so I called him and he answered. I reminded him about who I was (hadn't seen him in almost two years that's another story) and he said, "What can I do for you." I told him that I needed to get my right testicle removed and he said, "I just had a cancellation, it was for Wednesday at 11:30, is that to soon for you?" I said, "No, that would be great!" And he penned me in and told me what to bring. So from a prompt in my mind on Sunday night, I was set to be castrated on Wednesday. Talk about sweet timing, it was faster then I could ever imagine. But Tuesday was extremely difficult, I couldn't concentrate at work, and I didn't sleep much Tuesday night. I was up at 3:15am, pacing, but actually I could never have imagined getting in to see him so quickly. It was truly amazing. Hash

Hash,
Based on the date of your posting, does this mean that you went in this past Wednesday, March 22nd? If so, congratulations! I myself was in to see the good Dr. to have both of mine taken care of this past Friday, March 24th.
It's a great feeling, isn't it?!
Best of luck on a speedy recovery!

Re: How I made my decision to be castrated
Yes it was last Wednesday, March 22nd. Thanks for the congrats and let me also congradulate you! It is a great feeling. Was there anyone else there waiting for an orchi? My appointment was at 11:30, but there was a young guy before me who had both of his removed. That means that Kimmel removed at least five testicles. Wonder if he did more? Hash

Hash,
No, there was no one else in the waiting area while I was getting done, but then again my appointment was at 9:30 AM.
I don't know if the doctor was doing anybody else that day, but he left the lid up on the medical waste can when he left the room and I did take just a quick peak in it as I was getting redressed after the procedure and there where quite a few testicles in the can, mine included.
Looks like the doctor had a busy couple of days! LOL!
Take good care of yourself and I hope your recovery is going as well as mine.

I am happy for you both and wish you both the best. I can share your joy as my castration was the best choice I have made in my life.
EricaAnn it does sound like the good doctor had been busy. I share peoples' concerns that when he retires the community will need someone to take his place.

EricaAnn, could you share some of your thoughts about your experience with Dr. Kimmel and what your feeling now. I want to know your assessment of things and how you finally made up your mind to finally "do it." Or am I being too nosy? Hash
