I had some minor swelling in my scrotum, which was/is natural after castration. It may have been a small hematoma (swelling of blood? correct me if I'm wrong) that actually felt hard and big enough to imitate a testicle. Now it's decreasing and I can feel the emptiness of the scrotal sack, which is what I'm anxious to obtain. I want the scrotum void and empty of its content. I figure by Monday it will be just that. By the way, it only took four sutures to close the midline scrotal incision.
Note: I've been using a low low dose of androgel to protect myself from the hot flashes and deep depression that most eunuchs go through. A lot of eunuchs from this sight add small doses of hormone and their beneficial knowledge has helped me to understand this need. Kimmel would not/does not approve of any testosterone supplementation, and I agree with him about this to a point. From everything I've learned here, you need to use small doses of androgel and or estrogen, otherwise serious health problems will occur. Not just deep depres-sion, but osteoporosis, muscle atrophy, etc. Read about the consequences and please don't judge me. Someday I hope to wean myself off of adrogens completely. Hash

Your sack can be sore for a long time months even. The small ball you feel is most likely the end of the cord. This very common. I am not on any hormones of any type. Many of my friends did have to go on some type of hormones to lessen the effects of castration. You need to take at least 1200mg of calcium a day the rest of your life to be safe.
I wish you luck and welcome you into the very special world of being an Eunuch

Thanks Bobbie for the concern & advice, especially about taking calcium. What is/are the best methods of obtaining calcium since there are so many options? Hash

Re: Shrinking Swelling
Calcium with vitamin D is good because D helps with the calciums absorption. Also if you drink milk drink skim because the milk fat blocks the absorption of calcium that is in the milk. Glad things are going well. I had post operative swelling and like bobbie said is most likely a cord.

Re: Shrinking Swelling
The 5 gram pack of androgel was not shown to increase bone density, though two 5 gram packs did. My theory for this is that Androgel has an extremely low conversion rate to estrogen, where as the injections such as depo-testosterone, has a higher conversion to estrogen. So a low dose Depo-testosterone shot will give off more estrogen than a low dose of Androgel and help fight osteoporosis better.

I have read that taking D along with calcium is good. But I've never heard/read that fat suppresses absorption. Is this scientifically proven, or just an old wives tale?
Also, there are different forms of calcium, such as ascorbate, citrate, gluconate, and lactate. Are any of these more bioavailable and/or better absorbed than the others?
P.S., I never can remember the difference between adsorb and absorb.

I was speaking only of milk fat in all milk but skim that coats the stomach. Skim milk contains no milk fat so the calcium in milk can be completely absorbed. Other fats do not coat the stomach so do not interfere with calcium absorption.

Re: Shrinking Swelling
I started taking calcium the day I started taking androcur. I have taken at least 1000 mg in pill form and also in my milk and mufti vitamin's Yes vitamin D is very important with calcium. I have had blood work taken before I started androcur and have had it tested several times since. The blood calcium has always been good level and not changed over the three + years. After just over two years on androcur I was tested for osteoporosis and found that I have it already. My doctor put me on a pill I take once a week and I should be OK the rest of my life.
It is very wise to get a bone scan done as soon as possible before chemical or real castration. This way you have a base level test and can see if you are changing.
