tod1969,

Do you identify with men or women? In your profile, you say your identity gender is male. Was that a mistake? If you are male inside, I don't think a female exterior will benefit you. Instead, there will be an uncomfortable dissonance between what you feel inside and how others perceive you.

Sorry -- I don't mean to challenge you. Just want you to be happy with the results.

Here are a couple of sites I found over the last several years of digging on the internet That have been very helpful for me.

http://www.tsroadmap.com/

http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/conway.html

Try google search for Transexual and Transgender. Also (some lost with crash) very good info on this site on other threads.

Good Luck

tod1969,

Do your research. There is a tremendous wealth of information available out there in the Internet universe.

Lindaleah mentioned a couple of good sites to look at. To those I would like to add www.annelawrence.com. This site has a lot of good information on hormones as well as castration.

Our community is also an excellent source of information, for there are a number of members here that have the same desires and already arrived at the same conclusion as yourself. Unfortunately, a lot of good threads and information on this topic where lost in the recent hacker attack on the site.

If you do decide to start. The first place to begin is with the firm resolution that this is the right thing for you and that you are prepared for the long term commitment and the monetary expense involved. Sit down quietly one night, without any distractions around you, and start to make a list of the pros and cons on what you are about to begin and give it some very careful thought, for if you decide to begin things like HRT, its going to bring about some permanent changes in your physical appearance that will be with you the rest of your life.

I gave my situation and my decision to proceed....oh, about 40 years or so of thought, so be sure and good luck! :)

Hi EricaAnn,

I suggest you contact Dr. Thep of the Pratunam Polyclinic Bangkok who has been in business a long time & comes recommended by transexuals TS & Kathoeys (shemales) from Thailand; & I suyggest you ask him for his operations price listing; as does all related TS operations his email: ppsurgery@yahoo.com.

I'm scheduled for my cut by him within this month, price US$150 & have been advised by kathoey friends here I that he is most obligeing & his service satifactory.

I've been hearing stories about it being dificult to have sex operations in Thailand but don't know where these tales are coming from because there are no reports of problems from locals, & I understand & (will find out for myself probably this month) that all is required is to sign the document of non responsability for the clinic or hospital involved.

In Thailand a persons body is their own (Karma), & if they wish to become a eunuch or transsexual (TS) it is their own business, & in fact last night on the TV news was the report that the military now exempt TS folks from military service (read harassment). So attitude is improving & acceptance of TS & kathoeys is okay now.

when in Thailand on the non visa visit of one month, it is easy to extend for another month; & if you overstay will need to pay 500 baht (US$12.50) per day over. Suggest you would stay at the Nana Hotel that is very near the action & not too far from Dr. Theps Pratunam Polyclinic.

The kathoeys from Nana Plaza will be a big help to you with "love", & advise on TS issues & other moral support, as mostly are very friendly good people. ( & mostly very beautifull physically.)

My email in case you need any more information, although I think Dr. Thep can answer all your questions; is: beaulindsay@yahoo.com

regards, Bo.

(1) Get a sympathetic shrink who specializes in gender identity problems

(2) Make sure you have health insurance. It'll pay for (1), and depending on how your endo doctor codes your prescriptions, it may pay for some of that, too.

(3) Find a support group of transpeople in your area.

You need all of these things before you get your first HRT prescription.

Good luck, my sister. I'm on the way too, just a little bit ahead of you. Even I don't have my 'mones prescription yet.
