I must admit that this inspires me. That's why it's in the deep dark cellar

Ohio Bowler Rolls Perfect 900 Series

Lonnie Billiter Jr. didn't mind being the center of attention at Fairfield Lanes. It's not every day that people get a chance to see bowling perfection.

Billiter, 24, of Colerain Township, rolled three consecutive 300 games Monday night to achieve a perfect 900 series sanctioned by the United States Bowling Congress.

According to the group's online record book, Billiter is just the eighth bowler to achieve the feat and first since Darren Pomije, of New Prague, Minn., on Dec. 9, 2004. The Web site's records were last updated Nov. 20, 2005.

By the time Billiter reached the sixth frame of his third game, action on the other 39 lanes had stopped. People stood shoulder-to-shoulder eight rows deep, with about 20 to 30 more people standing on chairs in the bar.

"I wasn't paying any attention to them," Billiter said. "I just kept my head down."

After his 36th consecutive and final strike, Billiter was swarmed by admirers who wanted to shake his hand. Girlfriend Lauren Denniston gave him a kiss.

"It was never something I ever thought about doing, never even dreamed it," he said.

One of the people perched on a bar chair was Joel Ray, who held the previous Greater Hamilton Bowling Association series record with a three-game 880.

"I couldn't even see him, just the pins. But I was cheering for him all the way. I was actually getting teary-eyed," Ray said.

Billiter couldn't stop shaking as he tried to call his mom on a phone at the bowling alley in this city 13 miles north of Cincinnati.

"Someone's gonna have to dial the numbers for me," he said.
