It wouldn't be wise of me to give you heart advice because I'm not sure how much it would help, but I do know that there has been quite a bit of debate about how castration affects the heart and the caridovacular system as a whole. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can chip in!

I think castration could be a great step for becoming more comfortable with your gender identity if that is what you want. I was castrated because I am TG, and I'm now in the process of making a full transition. But there are lots of us who are castrated only as part of a partial transition. It's all up to you and how far you want to and can go.

Spiro is a blood pressure medication... it also blocks testosterone. Perhaps this is a good idea to consider taking. Talk to your doctor about it :)

AA,

Your situation is quite an interesting one: a heart condition, and a castration want and desire.

Your personal doctor must have an opinion on your desire for castration, what were you told? The question of castration affects on your heart condition certainly cannot be answered on this board. We are not your personal physician, therefore, making comment on your heart condition and castration would not be ethical or appropriate.

On the other hand, we can tell you what we know to be the effects of castration on those who have first hand experience. You and I know there are limits to what should and will be posted on this board. There are standards and reasonableness as to what will be allowed to remain on this board in the form of advice to your initial question. Please accept apologies in advance if this does not meet your standard.

I have lived my life without my left testicle since December 1993 and my right testicle was removed in October 1998. My testosterone level dropped dramatically in the 2nd quarter of 1994, affects of poor performance of the right testicle. I went on Testosterone replacement therapy soon after, receiving a shot every 3 weeks. That didn't work well so I stopped the shots. I suffered from depression, almost lost my life and quickly resumed the shots but at a different frequency, once every 2 weeks.

I have not experienced detrimental changes to my physical health since the final cut except one, weight gain. Can you say 50 pounds. I try the best I know how but the weight stays and I live with it. How has this affected my health? My heart could stop any time now, too much weight to carry. I get yearly physicals and quarterly blood work and monitoring by my personal physician. We both want to see me live a long life so we monitor.

Hope this helps and I am sure other Eunuchs here on the board will offer you their experiences.

Take care and let us know what your doctor thinks about your castration desire.
