Hello everyone,
From last days I am suffering from breathlessness, chest tightness and coughing. I have visited a doctor who told me that I am suffering from asthma. I want to know what are the factors that cause asthma? Is asthma a chronic disease?

Re: Factors causing Asthma
Kays,
You might try a web search on the word "asthma". Google is your friend.
My son had asthma as a child and grew out of it, so I doubt that my experience would help you. Good luck.

Re: Factors causing Asthma
While other ills may be off topic, Robby, we may accidentally discover a connection between "this that and the other" and testosterone levels, etc. Wouldn't that be interesting?!
I can't help but wonder if there might be connection of some kind between boyhood asthma and the onset of puberty.
I had it, outgrew it, as did my cousin.
B. has it, so does C. here. Both of them are well into puberty now, and don't have NEAR the problems with it that they had when little.
A connection? Don't know.
However, the rates of adult onset asthma seem to climbing as well, so that sort of throws a wrench in that one.

Re: Factors causing Asthma
Asthma is a disease that affects the airways of lungs. Asthma is very common disease. As per a recent study one out of every ten people is suffering from this disease. The cause of asthma is not fully understood. However hereditary factor and environmental factor are responsible for development of asthma. Allergens from dust, pollen, moulds and pets can cause asthma. Children having food allergy are more likely then other children to suffer from asthma. If any member of family is suffering from asthma then other family member are more likely to get affected by asthma.

I find my allergies, laughing hard, and anxiety kick off my athsma. When I was in the Army I "outgrew" athsma, but it came back when i started transition, so I have no idea...

I've had it for years. You need to be on a preventative med (like Advair), have an emergency med (like Albuterol), and know your triggers. Allergies, cold air, pet hair, dust mites.... Lots of things can trigger it. Factors for getting it include having parents who smoked. Yes, it is a chronic condition. It can be mild, or serious. Breathing is good! Don't let yourself get so bad that you need hospital treatment.
So, there's my 2 cents.
