Clean Up

Post by Blaise (imported) »

I used my McAfee Security system and then WinCleaner this weekend to work on my PC. That improved speed and performance.

I discovered someon had highkacked Internet Explorer. I discovered four Trojan horses and many spywear programs. Problems began some months (or years) ago when my PC crashed after I downloaded a Microsoft XP service pack. After that, I could not install McAfee. I had lost my Norton sercurity system in the crash.

I have changed my scanner from an HP 4070 to an Epson 3590. The only problem is that I cannot get the link from scanner to PC to work. Oh, well!

I keep getting a message that a program cannot find an object. I have no idea what that means.

The HP 4000 series of scanners has problems in Win XP, I don't know about other OS's.

Try and get the latest scanner driver from the HP site and totally remove the old one, restart, and then reinstall.

Thank you, knowing this gives me a bit of hope. I will probably go with the Epson, if I can link it. Scanning my slides is important to me. i want to share them with others.

Thank you. I did this with the Epson scanner. I still have some problems, but that may involve needing a bit more powerful PC. The scanner sends a message that it needs more time long after the image is posted in a file.

Thank you for the information. You were on target.
