Without a doubt, Androboy is my fave author on the Archive....Brandon's Slave Training, The Dollmaker, The Model Slave.....just awesome stuff. But why hasn't he posted anything lately? Anybody know?

I think it can honestly be said that all of the long-time regulars on the Archive have worried about Androboy. He tried never to let on about his health status, but he was trying to cope with serious congenital problems. His brilliant mind (He was an outstanding university student.) was trapped in a body that never quite functioned right.

Androboy/David's last post to the Archive was on September 2, 2003 and his last access of the site to read the message board was on November 25, 2003. Emails sent to both his Archive account and to his personal email address have been unanswered.

I've pasted two of his last posts below:

something has happened. the good news is that it wasn't fatal -- i haven't been quite as forthcoming about the issue of my health as i could have been. i have chronic kidney disease -- over the past year it has gotten worse requiring multiple trips to the hospital each week.

in february i began preparations for transplant in oder to solve the issue. the prepation included a daily drug cocktail that included antirejection drugs and blood thinners. as a result on 4 march i suffered a stroke and spent several months at a rehab hospital learning how to use my hand again and to walk and talk.

we have 88% return in my right hand, and have been successful in getting me to walk for very short distances, the speech is improving -- although i still have a nasty stutter that won't go away.

the one downside about rehab is that i didn't have access to a computer or the internet, and so, i couldn't keep up with my writing. i am back home now (although i still have outpaient rehab 5 days a week) and i should be able to continue writing very soon.

thanks guys.

i really appreciate the thoughts and prayers. the worst is behind me at this point. on friday i learned that it is possible to walk even though the muscle response below the knee hasn't returned. well, that's not exactly true -- it's the conscious muscle response that hasn't returned yet. my right leg does what it wants from the knee down -- there's a whole range of twitches, jerks, and jumps that it demonstrates at various times.

with a sure-step ankle brace strapped on i can now manage to stand and do a nifty boris karloff impression. what passes for a walking gait really resembles the karloff shuffle from the movie "the walking dead."

i really missed you guys -- the biggest problem for me during rehab was not having access to a computer and the inernet. please be assured that i am recovering nicely and as soon as time permits i will be back to writing and posting.

In private messages, David talked about multiple strokes and the loss of physical capacity. The last message I received from him was cheerful and optimistic and talked about finally being able to use three fingers to type.

Like Jesus, I came to the conclusion long ago that Androboy was either severly disabled, or dead. Repeated emails to his real ISP account with a large popular provider went unanswered. They never bounced, but after several months of repeated pleas for some kind of response, I gave up. Eventually, mailboxes fill up when they're not taken care of. Someone had to be watching it, but obviously not replying to anything, no matter the content.

I went so far as to send high priority messages with return receipts, enclosing all of my contact phone numbers - home, work, etc., even a PO Box for snail mail.

Nothing.

This isn't the first time this has happened, but I hope it's the last.

Everyone who is an Internet guru or addict, pick your term there, should have someone in real life in charge of their computer to let their Internet friends know if something happens. I have one.

You should too.
