I thought things didn't look the way they should down there, and I was right. I found today that there is an infection, and according to the doctor, it's a pretty good one.

I took the antibiotics everyday and stayed off my feet as much as I could, but sometimes infections can still happen. The incision is also coming open on the bottom, and I don't know whether the infection caused this or this was already there and could have contributed to the infection.

The doctor said she cannot remove the stitches or the whole incision would come open. She gave me more antibiotics and is referring me to a urologist for treatment. But I have to wait for insurance approval so it could be awhile. Hopefully it's not too long because it looks worse than when I first noticed it and the inicision being open probably isn't helping much.

I also learned that not only will the doctor not prescribe any hrt, including trt, but she is not even willing to monitor me knowing that I am buying them online. She says I have to be referred just to have a simple liver function check done. I really need to look into a new doctor.

Ditch her. She's incompetent.

I'd also file a complaint, not that it would do much good, but you never know.

Then again, I always am one to make trouble.

And if all else fails, get to a farm supply store or vet outlet and get a small bag of Terramyacin or Auramyacin...spellling there...it's a tetracycline antibiotic for veterinary use; yellow powder. I've used it before, up to 2500 mg / day. It makes a mix like lemonade, tastes horrible. Test on skin first to see if you're allergic. You can also mix it with less water and make a paste for topical applications.

HOWEVER I have done this in emergency only, when I couldn't get real "people" medicine. I don't recommend it unless you just HAVE to and have no other recourse.

She gave me antibiotics different from my current ones, so maybe that'll help. This was after telling me it needs immediate treatment but that we'd have to wait for insurance approval.

With my poor people's insurance I cannot go to the ER unless it is life-threatening. I think the way it works is if I'm not admitted, I have to pay. Even for a broken bone I'd have to wait until I could get an appointment with the doctor.

I'll probably just have to stick it out and hope for the best.

Insurance can be a real pisser but DO NOT wait. If you have a resistent staph. infection we are talking about several weeks of IV drug treatment twice a day or the alternative is to die. Odds are they will hospitalize you for that. Hopefully, it is not that serious but they need to culture the bug and find out what it is.

I have an appointment with the urologist on Thursday. I think I should be ok until then. So far no signs that things are getting more serious like fever or chills or anything like that.

I'm just not looking forward to having to explain to another doctor what I did and why.

Infections are not fun. I did end up with a minor one, levaquin knocked it out quickly though. I had taken keflex for 10 days starting 3 days before my procedure. Used a non-sterile q-tip to reopen the drain and I suspect that is where the infection got started.

Also note Goo out is better then Goo in. if your incission is open then that is good. squeeze as much of that junk out as possible. Also ask your urologist when u see them tomorrow to flush it out with saline, that helps alot in getting rid of excess junk.

the less junk your body has to fight the more energy it has to fight the infection.
