Hi Angel,

I was taking 200mg per day spironolactone pre-op, and I still take 200mg per day post-op. My doctor feels it can help further breast growth and it helps keep my hypertension in check (mild high blood presure). I also think that taking 8mg estradiol per day pre-op has helped keep testosterone at castration levels. Actually, I take the same dose of all medication now as I did pre-op.

Some doctors feel that both of these medications (Spiro and Estrogen) can be lowered after surgery. My doctor feels they should remain the same post-op. Several blood tests show that I am at the desired female hormone level before and after surgery. Also note that I am taking injectable estrogen.

My daily dosage of medications include:

200mg Spironolactone

8mg Estradiol tablets

325mg Ecotrin (coated aspirin)

Bi-weekly injection of 1cc, 10mg/ml Delestrogen

If you are just seeking castration hormone levels, 200mg spironolactone may be enough. Please remember everyone reacts different and your dose may vary. I have heard reports that some folks have taken 300-400mg per day, and other less. Also be aware of the side effects spironolactone has. Feel free to ask anything else if you need to.
