By way of a disclaimer I want to say that I realize that blindness is a terrible affliction and I know that the manufacturer says that it's too early to draw conclusions as to cause and effect with reports that 50 men out of 25 million Viagra users have gone blind. Still, it makes you think and it's great fun for the late night comics.

I read about Viagra and have only comment to offer: I have not had an erection now in more than 15 years and still enjoy a great sex life. I know to many men, the ability to have sexual intercourse is a big deal. I cannot criticize that. Intercourse is still the greatest way of all to make babies. Now if you are not into making babies, all kinds of alternatives exist.

There is already proof and it is a warning that Viagra can affect the visual perceptions. Blue/purple/cyan tints to everything is one of them. Not a good thing for someone who works in fine precision color for a living! Of course, everyone is different. But if there are visual side effects, who's to say it can't cause blindness in some?

Reminds me of a joke...

So the Preist walks into a back room and ther are two altarboys with their pants down jerking off.

Enraged, he screams, "If you don't stop that you will go blind!" and turns around and storms out of the room.

One altarboy looks at the other and says, "Let's just do it until we need glasses."

You notice now that when they run a TV or radio ad for drugs, they rattle off a list of side effects and disclaimers? Makes you want to just suffer with what you've got instead of risking the 20 other things that can go wrong with you if you take the new drug to fix the initial thing.

I can tell you one thing...

If you go to the book store and buy a PDR (Physicians Desk Reference) that lists all drugs, uses, side effects, chemical composition and so forth, you will never want to take another prescription drug again.

The drug stores in the U.S. are supposed to give a circular with each new prescription that tells of side effects, dosage and so forth, and those are almost as scary as the PDR descriptions.
