Every now and then I get a welcome reminder that there is a huge world outside my limited view. Today I was reading CAT FANCY magazine at the local library. Inside were offers for other magazines, of course, including a magazine titled HOBBY FARMS.
A quick check with Google show that there is quite a lot of activity in this hobby, from small farms that are, indeed, money losing hobbies, to small working farms that try to make a profit.
I can certainly see the attraction of this sort of living, if you don't mind hard work. At age 60, with arthritis and a few other problems, this would not be for me unless I hired some help to actually run any farm I had.
Which was also the new moon. I came home from work late Saturday night, and did the usual rituals with the cats. I work on the assumption that The God and The Goddess and all The Rest Of Them are reasonably levelheaded and understand why the cats come first.
But at 1:45 AM Pacific Time, I was indeed able to do a short ritual of GRATITUDE. As I was getting sleepy, I did not use any candles. Unattended candles and cats are not a safe mix.
In any case, at 9 AM this morning, I awoke to see the three cats at the foot of the bed. For the very time that I can remember, Fluffy had her head resting on Max's flank. And Max was grooming Silver's head. And Silver was purring away. Makes it all worthwhile, somehow.
Yes, I called Mother yesterday, and we had a long talk about anything and everything, including my finances. I assured her I was doing well.
