I posted yesterday...had castration yesterday w/ Dr. Kimmel. Is it normal to have no drainage? I've been changing my dressings often to keep everything dry and clean...but I have almost no drainage. Is this ok, or should I be concerned? Cheers. L Congrats on your castration. My friend was castrated about 2 1/2 weeks ago by a doctor. He had almost no drainage or blood on the dressings. He is very happy that it is done. He has a very small cut made in his sack.

Yes it can be normal as i never had any drainage with my surgery eather but do keep an eye on it and take everything that he has given you to take .Take care and good luck on your new life and by all means keep in touch with us we are always here to help.In the coming monthes your body will change without the testosterone in it so be ready for this and when and if you have any questions just ask we are here to help.

Consider yourself quite fortunate to have no drainage. A couple of my friends didn't either, but not me. My incision continued to drain slightly for almost a month. My doctor didn't seem concerned about it, but I was surely glad for it to finally stop. Good luck!

Just watch for signs of infections. Otherwise, you're OK. And congrats.

duations on your castration! I hope you will share your journey with others here. As someone who lived a long time with extrememly low levels of testosterone, I think you will find the journey interesting and probably rewarding.

I had no drainage after cardiac bypass surgery. I also had no pain.

As our beloved Andrew is fond of reminding us, Your Mileage May Vary. YMMV.

As I recall, Gem had a devil of a time with drainage. I have also been chatting on an IM service with a lurker who has been healing up from castration only for 3 months, and still has a bit of draining going on.

We're all different in healing. Each one of us has areas on the body, even, that heal faster than others.

For example, wounds on my hands and arms heal in a couple of days. Wounds to my legs or ass (don't ask) heal much more slowly. I would assume that my midsection would be a happy medium.

no drainage means that the castration is done very good and only a little tissue has cut to remove the testicles. its normal.

I'm not sure he knows as much as he says he does about HRT (ex. he said that w/ the correct doses of estrogen and progesterone, people could choose how large their breasts will be)...THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE (if it were, there would be no such thing as breast implants!). I respect him for what he does and he certainly knows his urology, but when it comes to endocrinology...he is off (I was 4 years pre med, daughter of a nurse, have an "endo", and I have definitely done my homework). Anyway, all is well, and it seems to be healing nicely. Again, thanks to all and I'll try to keep everyone here informed of the progress. Cheers. L

If your avatar is a picture of you, I can't imagine you not "passing" for a woman. You look quite beautiful in fact.

Kimmel must be a dork to think that breast size has that much to do with estrogen -- otherwise lots of women would be using estrogen for that! My understanding is that you need some estrogen to promote breast development, but the final size is genetic and not really related to estrogen level.
