A few months ago someone posted a story about a high school (in some futuristic time) where on a certain day all boys were measured to see if they were worthy to be breeders. Those coming up "short" were castrated, leaving the girls for the well-endowed boys.

Our protagonist had his eye on a special little girl and never had any doubt that he would be found adequate on measuring day. He was looking forward to taking her as a mate (she liked him too), losing his virginity, and enjoying a wonderful sex life with her. However, to his dismay, he was found wanting when the ruler was put to his member (in front of the school assembly). The couple could only exchange wistful glances as he was led away to be castrated, dreaming of a relationship that could never be.

I thought the name of that story was "Measuring Day", but I couldn’t find it in the archive. I apologize to the author for not commenting on it sooner. It was an excellent story.
