more questions and answers

Hi all,

though this is my first post here, I have been looking around the EA for quite a while.

I had my balls and sac removed in Philly with Dr Kimmel on Feb 2nd, so right now the area is still bruised and swollen. Well, I am not going to report about the op at this time (I watched it all the time), maybe later, after the effects of castration have fully developed. So far I haven't noticed any changes at all (except for the swelling and the incision of course), so no depression, no decline of libido/erections, no hot flashes, no nothing.

(There seem to be very few castration reports on the EA at all, or did I miss some important threads?).

In this post I'd just like to write down a few questions about castration that I had been looking for but couldn't find here. I give the answers that Dr Kimmel gave me. Maybe they can be added to the FAQ.

Q: How long does it take for the swelling and the bruise to disappear?

A: about 7 to 10 days

Q: How long does it take for the erections to become weaker or to disappear?

A: This varies from about 2 weeks to 2 months

Q: How long does it take for the libido to subside?

A: about two months

Q: When will the hot flashes start and when will they subside again?

A: About half of the castrated men will be effected by hot flashes. These will start about 7 to 10 days after the operation and can be expected to subside after about three months. One interesting fact about the hot flashes is, that they cannot be avoided by taking testosterone after the op. I didn't ask Dr Kimmel about the why, because I don't intend to take any hormones, but he said that this is one of the most common errors.

Q: For how long should sporty activities be avoided after the op?

A: for about two months

(comment: this seems to be a very long period, I think six weeks would do as well)

Hi and welcome.

I see that you joined the archive in December and just had your castration a few days ago. I'd be interested to know more about how you came to your decision. I assume it took more than a month or two?

I realize there are other resources out there (other than the Eunuch Archive) that you may have used when coming to the act on your desire. I'm glad you had your surgery and are now a eunuch and a true member of the archive in every sense of the word.

Although you list yourself as shy, I'm sure most of us are very interested in your story.

Congratulations on your loss! Just a few answers from my experience nearly 5 years ago....

The answer on surgical recovery time seems reasonable. The answers on the time it takes to lose erections and libido may also be reasonable, although it seems that experience varies a lot. As I'm receiving testosterone, I've never experienced the loss of either.

I'm a bit surprised by the doc's answer re. hot flushes. I always understood they disappeared with HRT, either estrogen or testosterone. I experienced them prior to commencing HRT, but not afterward.

While I think I'm good at recovery from injuries, etc. and I'm definitely not comfortable with offering medical advice, I agree with your comment that his answer re. returning to athletic endeavours seems a bit long. While I wouldn't have returned to rugby or football so soon, I was back on the volleyball court a week following castration. I was back on my bike shortly afterward. The difference in your case may be that you also had the sac removed. I didn't. I should also qualify my experience by adding that I'm a fitness nut.

your from germany? you traveled a long way to see dr kimmel.I am seeing him again in 1 week.The question on the hot flashes bothers me a bit due to the fact that I was told they would disapear within a year.I am taking estradiol daily and have un needed breast growth.If I will always have the flashes I see no reason to take hrt.Hope he's wrong on that one.But I doubt it.

Bottom line is no matter what he told you we all are very different when It come's to healing.check out some of my old posts and you will see what I mean.Anyway welcome aboard maity.rrrrrrrrrrrrr 😄 😄 😄

Personal experiences vary greatly with each one of us. I'll answer each question with my own experience.

It took about 3 weeks for the major swelling to go away, an additional 4 or 5 to be totaly gone.

t least 2 months, with an occasional erection every so often several months later.

Between a 2-3 month period.

I've never really had them, and if I did they were not even worth noting.

I was back at work doing heavy lifting after 2 weeks. I'm not into sports, but perhaps 6 weeks to 2 months is not an unreasonable time frame.

I saw a local urologist several weeks after my castration. I was told that although the outside may heal rather quickly, what's inside will take much longer to health fully. Up to about 6 months for everything to be completely healed.

Well, the swelling and the bruising have mostly disappeared. On Monday I have been to my local doctor to take the stitches out. Dr Kimmel had used permanent stitches, that do _not_ disappear after a few weeks. My local doctor was _not_ shocked about the castration itself, because I had ever told her about my wishes. But she was shocked how the wound looked like. It was inflamed and the suture was not closed as it should be. She said that it was sewed in an absolutely miserable manner (actually her words were even harsher) and that these kind of stitches are commonly used in veterinary medicine. She told me that the wound has to heal from the very inside and that it will take a very long time to heal completely. I have to see her every two days for check-up.

Well, I can only warn everybody not to have sac removal with Kimmel.

Has anybody bad experiences with sac removal as well?

@Malecheii

Yes, I have

but I have been here as a guest for some years searching for information. So it took me more than just a few months for the decision. Actually I knew since puberty that some day I wanted to get castrated, but before that I wanted my genes to reproduce ;)

@bigtwin

Yes, from Germany. Here we have a law regarding castration, so it is impossible to go to a doctor and have castration. If a surgeon does perform a castration even with the patient's consent, he will risk some years in jail. There is a commission (medical association) that can grant permissions for surgical castrations, but as far as I know they haven't done so for the past 30 years.

@Christina

very interesting to know others' experience

yet. I guess that we're some of the lucky persons who do not experience these flushes.

From Germany : I can confirm the actual situation. It's here very dangerours for a doctor or medical to perform a castration. A woman can injure a man in all possible ways without fear of jurisdiction. But a man has no right to stop this behaviour - in the way, I will be a eunuch in future. I will get now calmness.

A special way of german justice. Perhaps you all we know the special german way...?

I was 13 when I lost my testes I am sure that my recovery was longer due to the severity of the car accident. When the drunk hit us the steering colum broke away and sliced off half my penis and destroyed my testes leaving me pinned in the vehicle. the swelling in my groin finally went away after over 3 months. The next big issue was when they relocated my uretha all the swelling caused the opening to be in the incorrect location so after all the swelling had gone down they had to move it again, this time the swelling was minimal.
