Fact of Myth?

Hello all!
I read a past post by someone claiming that ice water baths for your testicles could actually lower testosterone levels, or at least have the same effect? Anyone know if this is true before I subject myself to such a painful experiment?
Thanks

I don't know about ice water, but I do know that hot water baths for the testicles for 30 minutes twice a day for a week had been proven to render a man sterile for a certain period of time. I actually tried that to a higher degree, with very hot water for 1 hour and after 3 days my ejaculate was completely clear for almost 3 weeks. I then read somewhere that very hot water for about an hour will lower testosterone levels over a period of time, but I never went much further with it. However, after that first self experiment, I was considerabley less horny and felt a drop in libido. I decided though that was probably not the best way to attempt libido reduction. On one hand I think there could probably be some permanent damage, but on the other hand I figure so what? LoL. That's the intent. Here's a link that mentions experimental heat methods for male contraception.

Well if you soak them for a long time, it should lower your testosterone levels. Extreme cold slows down the activity of your enzymes enough that the transition from adrenal androgens to testosterone happens very slowly.

I have tried this and yes, it works - it is a FACT. However, the effect is usually only temporary (about 4 days) and further depend on time and tightness of the band (a semi-tight band is required for maximum effect - otherwise they will retract and be less exposed to the cold). This kind of approach may turn a pleasant relief for those who need it and be a fair way of exploring the world of castration if surgery is unavailable at the moment. Another positive effect is that the ice greatly reduces the pain and itching during the procedure.

I cant wait to try this, but is it completely safe and reversible? Hot or cold?

The effect only applies to the production of sperm numbers. Does not effect hormones.

Im not so sure, (speaking as a young intact guy with too strong labido) I did it with hot water 2 days ago for an hour, and today all my fetishes are boring to me and I cant be bothered jerking off.
My testosterone levels cant have fallen enough to lessen my sex drive in just 2 days after one session ~(can they?), but I cant think of any other explanation.

Hormones are in your blood stream for a long time after being made. Just think about it when a guy is castrated. The effects occur for weeks to be noticed. I have never read anything where heat or cold effects the hormones. It does effect the production of sperm.

Ok, I said EXTREME cold and LONG exposure time. Placing your balls in cold water for a few hours isn't gonna do anything. (except maybe give you a placebo effect if you believe in what you're doing

)
Hmm... then again the time and temperature required to give a noticable effect on your hormones would probably damage your testicles in the first place. In any case, the effect on your libido should be noticable in a few days. Testosterone has a short half life, (about an hour or more) but it's overall effect on cells lasts for a while longer.
