My experiences with androcur

Hello,

I am taking androcur for seven weeks now and the results are very confusing to me. I started with 100mg each day. Within the second week, I noticed that my libido was reduced, the usual morning erections had disappeared and myhairloss had almost stopped. The change that I enjoyed the most was that I became more sensitive in regarding my environment and myself. I could relate better to the female way of thinking. This was an astonishing experience and I wanted it to last.

During the 4th week the changes that androcur brought to my life seemed to reduce gradually. I had morning erections again and very often spontaneous erections. The hairloss also became noticable again. My libido is still very low but I have no problems getting an orgasm within 2 minutes. The sperm-production has not been reduced and my testicle did not become smaller.

Again I experienced the typical "male rage", which means impatience and rage facing everyday-problems due to a high testosterone-level. This condition really scares me and I am ashamed of it. Even before taking androcur I was quite sensitive and regretted my occasional fits of temper very much because they stood in contrast to my feelings. I considered them not to be a part of my character. I wanted to get rid of them with the help of androcur.

Within the 4th week I decided to raise the dose. I currently take 150 mg but it did not change anything. I am beginning to lose the belief that androcur is effective in my case. Is it possible that I am a non-responder? Or is my testosterone-level so tremendously high that 150mg just is not enough?

Due to a birth-defect I only have one testicle and it is very difficult for me to imagine, that this one is capable to produce such an amount of testosterone.

Nevertheless, an urologist told me, that my t-level is on the upper end of the scale. (t-level was measured before taking androcur)

I am sad because I really believed that androcur could help me. Or am I just too impatient?

I apprechiate every advice and personal experience the people using this board can give me.Thank you in advance,

Yours Annie

The full effects of Androcur can take several weeks. This occurs when the feedback loop gets to the point where the pituitary no longer produces measurable amounts of LH and FSH. At this point, the testes no longer function (because the testes produce sperm and testosterone, and the amounts of which are determined by the amounts of FSH and LH respectively--eliminate the gonadotropins LH and FSH and the testes stop working).

The manufacturer of the drug, Schering, suggests starting with higher doses until the full effect is obtained, and then slowly reduce the dose to a maintenance dose (enough to keep the feedback loop in the LH and FSH suppression mode).

I did just as suggested, starting with 200 mg/day. By seven weeks, the morning thingies ceased forever and I ended up on a much lower maintenance dose. Schering suggests that 50 mg/day may be adequate, but some people report that sometimes 25 mg/day for the maintenance dose is adequate.

Hugs,

Kelly :)

Thank you Kelly, you know a lot about the issue. These facts were new to me and let me think more optimistically.

Well, it seems that you are a special case.

Dont forget that we are not doctors, and not

specialists. We are only Androcur users who share their

experiences with that one product, and maybe one user

in here went trought the same ups and downs a you described.

keep us informed

I too experienced a roller coaster ride with Androcur for almost a year. Like Annie, I began at 100 mg but later upped it to 200 mg for a while. I lost my morning thing very quickly, but could get spontaneous erections for the first 6 months. While my libido was lowered greatly, it was not completely eliminated. Even though my wish to cum was mostly gone, I could still do it after increasing amount of work. I did eventually reach dry cum. But it was not a gradual transition. My libido dropped and then came back a bit over time.

Emotionally, it was also a bit of a roller coaster ride. I got extremely calm for a while and then the rage came back. Like the libido, it was not as bad as before but its return was definitely noticeable.

I later supplemented Androcur with the anti-aestrogen Tamoxifen (because I did not wish to be feminized and felt great pains behind my nipples), all my libido was gone in 1 week. All my erections were gone, regardless of any effort to bring on one. The calm returned.

With the Tamoxifen, I dropped my Androcur doseage to 50 mg. It was a completely enunuch state, with neither androgen nor oestrogen affecting the body.

Do consider Tamoxifen if you do not wish to be feminized. The combination was very effective.

I started at 40 mg/day (2 pills) for 2 days. Immediately, I found myself losing all ability to get hard, and all interest to cum. I did still enjoy intimacy but totally in a passive way.

After the first 2 days, I cut the dose to 20 mg/day for the next 10 days. In 7 days, I even lost interest in intimacy.

After that, I cut the dose again to a sustaining 10 mg/day for a month, during whcih I had completely zero sexual interests or feelings. Porn and physical contacts no longer interested me completely.

I stopped after that because the loss of libido was too complete for me. A significant reduction would have been good, but I was not ready for such a sustained and complete loss of interest.

There was no other side effects that I experienced.

Do please note in my previous message that I used the Tamoxifen to supplement an on-going Androcur intake. The Androcur alone after many mnoths managed to reduce my libido some but not satisfactory for me. And it also started very painful nipples and I did not wish to develop breasts. The first objectives of supplementing Androcur with Tamoxifen was to reduce any feminization effects of Androcur. But in combination, the two drugs seemed to have caused the complete loss of sexual function and interest.

So, the experience I summarized above was the result of the combination of both drugs.

I too have been on Andocur for a while (5 months) and my libido is very low. If I do watch a good porn flick I still get a breif erection or in heavy sexual play where I am banded. I got my first shipment of temoxifen today. Am hoping the combination of the two reduce libido to zero. From other posts this sounds like it should work.

Let you know in a week or so.

I had a brief experience of a month on androcur during the month of october. Have to say it is a very, very powerful drug. Even now, my testicles are still a (very) little bit smaller. They also tend to hang higher in the scrotum. I do not masturbate every day like I did before, allthough I feel like before. The day before yesterday I have been very sexually active. Yesterday, there was nothing in me wanting some sexual excitement. This never happened to me before the androcur period. There is some input about this periode in the 'looking for androcur' topic.

Would like to do a second test period, but I will certainly wait some more time to recover completely. So, Yes, it is a very powerful drug !
