Last night, 12/9/04, I had lots of problems staying logged onto the chat. And it wasn't just me, everyone was having the same trouble. Every 5 or 10 minutes it seemed I was dropped. Surfing the web last night was extremely slow too. It took much longer than usual to load web pages. Today everything seems ok.
I believe the problem was on the internet somewhere and not from the chat server itself.

Update: 12/10/04, 6:30pm EST.
I just logged onto the chat room, first attempt failed and the second took very long to connect. Whatever affected the chat last night still seems to affecting it today. I was logged on for about 30 minutes and didn't get dropped. :-\

I gave up on the chatroom ages ago, the only name I recognised from here was Lilac. But the conversations weren't very interesting, and I was amazed by the number of members who PM'd without asking, then went without saying goodbye.

Yesterday - afternoon central time, a cat, sam or rupert or both pulled the plug on the chat server. When we found the problem we got the system back going again. Then last night, I was in the chat and had no problem but everybody else was being dropped. I am with Christina on this, it was something on the net.
HairyHarry - I am sorry you gave up on the chat room but I do understand, many who come in will only talk in private, I dont like it but its a fact. You are also correct by saying that people will PM you without asking. We have been asked why we have so many Ops, we are trying to keep the chat going, sometimes its hard as we know each other so well. We would love it if others would start a topic or join in the chat. Finally I would like to say, the chat room has the bigest group in the evening, Central Time (USA).

Hey Riv! I like chat.LOL .Are the kiddies O.K.

I had trouble last nite
as well. I get P.M.ed without asking as well, it would be O.K. if I was asked something constructive .It's alway's: I'm I a boy or girl, do I have breast's, how big are they.

Comical, actually, but the conversation get's boring real fast.Hugs,Leona aka Coyotegirl

The chatroom has been infested with fewmits for days now. I was booted twice last night, IE once and poor Lurkrwolf about 10 times.
Today it was still fewmit infested. Blah left at 11:45 PST and the room died totally at noon.
Fix it please. Screw MTV, I need my E.A. chat room.

I didnÂ’t know that the Chat Room server was down. IÂ’ve never actually used the Chat Room. But, I happened to make a social call to the Mother Ship this evening.
Talula answered the phone sounding tired and frazzled. He’s usually voluble and sociable. He was rather curt in his responses while telling me that the server was down. After describing some of the problems, he said that it needed a “brain transplant”.
He quickly handed me over to Riverwind, who was there helping to put the pieces back together again.
At one point, I heard Talula in the background mutter, “There are wires everywhere, and I don’t know where they all go!”
Relax, the server will be back up in the fullness of time. LetÂ’s just hope that Talula and Riverwind make it through the ordeal.

I agree. Though we want our chat room back, Riverwind and talula are more important to us in the long run.
Both are my friends and their sanity rate higher than Blah's.
