They're Talking About Us!

...And it ain't good. Normally I wouldn't do this, but this is kind of my "other" message board. I won't vouch for these guys, as the vast majority of them are jerks (that's kind of the point of the place, actually) but I thought this was interesting. Points of view from outsiders to this kind of community - not something we hear a lot of. It's easy (for me, anyway) to forget that the discussions here aren't "normal" to everyone else. The nastiness they're talking is ridiculous, of course, but I bet it's not too far removed from what the general public would have to say.

I won't say what name I post under there, but I will tell you that I did NOT post to this thread. For the record, posting there is only by paid subscription. With the strong feelings I have about the people I know who are involved in this "scene", I didn't want to become embroiled in the arguments I knew my comments would cause, and I don't have time to keep up with it - it's a terribly fast-moving place.

Sorry about the link; I'm a doofus. Not sure what happened, I copied & pasted it.
Like I said before, I'm not getting in that mess and being the only one against many - not that I mind being outnumbered in an argument, I just don't have time to sit here and reply to everything that's said for the next few days. Most of them are idiots anyway, but there are a few intelligent non-bigots there.
Forgot to say so last night, but that board is notorious for barrelling into sites they find offensive and overloading it, but I don't think they'll do that here. I did see that someone mentioned you had to register to post here, but there was also a warning against invading this site. I have only ever seen them do it to child porn sites and the like, but you know what they say about forewarned is forearmed (or something, it's too early for me yet this morning).

What I find amusing is that the article posted sounds a LOT like one of the "Interview" series stories from the Fiction section.

I do notice that many of their avatars are rather disturbing. Ours are generally rather normal or at least nice. That might help determine which forum attracts odd and disturbed individuals. Also note the negativity of their posts, contrasted with our positive and loving writings. And they sure are fond of the "F" word.
And just like homophobes--people who try to hide their latent same-sex attractions by bashing gays, some of the louder people in the "awful" forum may be closet nullo's. I imagine that some have already joined our forum.
Hugs,
Kelly

Well, the article they are responding to is, I believe, a fake one. Anyone can create a fake interview that would shock people.
Any "violence" to oneself is by definition aberrant, and any body modification that removes significant flesh is aberrrant. The only question is whether people have the right to be aberrant, especially if the body modification helps the person align their body image with their psyche.
I for one, understand the genital nullification desire but find the desire to remove fingers and such pretty disturbing.
So I don't really blame people for being shocked/disturbed, especially if they take a fake interview as being real.

One of the things which I noticed that the boyfriend suddenly changed from being Scott to Steve. Exactly the sort of thing which goes wrong with the fiction from time to time.
LOL

I'm not going to read it again, but I think that the name-change was part of his being submissive - didn't the boyfriend/master/whatever make him do it? I'm not saying it's not fake (seemed a little extreme to be true, to me) but I think that part was explained in the story.

Krister, you are exactly right - I just re-read some of that thread, and I see that someone THERE mentioned what I said about the name change. I was pretty sure I'd read it somewhere.
