estrogen to testosterone?
I have read somewhere that a portion of the estradiol we take is converted back to testosterone.I was taking estradiol via dr's orders and started acting like a dick again. Is there any truth to this as far as any of you know?thanx[twin]

Re: estrogen to testosterone?
Yes, I think there is some truth to that, but I believe it has to do with excess amounts of estrogen. For instance, if you were taking a very high dose of estrogen, what your body could not absorb would be turned back into testosterone. The amount that you are on probably wouldn't do that and you shouldn't worry. I know I take much more than you and my T level is almost nill (at least well below female normal range).

Re: estrogen to testosterone?
There is no enzyme that can change estradiol or any estrogen to testosterone. However, the aromatase enzyme can and does change testosterone to estradiol.
The estrogen -> testosterone conversion is a myth. Indeed, estrogen increases SHBG, which reduces the free (available) testosterone, and for non-castrated males, estrogen also decreases the LH that causes the testes to produce testosterone in the first place.
So, no need to worry.
Hugs,
Kelly

Re: estrogen to testosterone?
Thank's Kelly for clearing that up. I thought I'd heard or read somewhere that there was some conversion of estrogen to testosterone.
Twin,
Any change in hormone levels is going to affect how you feel emotionally until your body gets used to those levels. Be patient, it takes a while to get adjusted to the changes.

All hormones will have an effect on your personality. Estradiol will make you feel more fem and think more fem but it will not change your basic personality. Not having testosterone and taking Estrogen will make you less agrassive, but it will never make you change from being a SOB to a push over.

Re: estrogen to testosterone?
Twin, Good you going to give E. more time. I think it will be time well spent.I saw Endo Dr yesterday he raised my Estradiol to 4mgs Bid & gave me a bottle of EstroFactors to try. Does seem to have helped even though its been a short time. Everyones system is different. Good Luck dl
