Re: spooky...
Hey, Wannabe, why feel stupid about experiencing what most of us have at some time.
I can guarantee that "they" are often around us and let us hear (and once in a while 'see') what you refer to as the paranormal. But my experience has convinced me. It's spooky, but I have never heard of anyone being harmed by "them" - just scared sh--less

If you really do have a Spirit, the signs can be pretty obvious. Unexplained cold spots in the house are one. An intense feeling of being watched. Movement caught just at the edge of your peripheral vision. A sudden twitch that runs across your shoulders and up your neck, followed by a chill and hair standing up.
You might want to check into the history of your abode and see if anyone ever died in there.
Both places where I work are haunted. I've actually seen the 'ghost' of the photographer who owned the studio where I work part time. Look me up on MSN or ICQ and we'll chat.

I live in an old house, that was a apartment building and maybe a brothel also. There have been atleast in the news papers two hangings (suicides) one in the basement and one in the attic, and unnumbered number of deaths. We have not seen any strange things

A few years ago I might have found this silly, but no more. I think some of these things happen not necessarily after an unnatural death has occurred, but whan someone departed leaving some task unfinished. And I claim animals can haunt too. I lost a dog to an accident a few year back. I had had her for many years. She had a habit of coming into my office when she got lonely or bored, or just wanted to go out. She would come in, put her paws on the arm rest of my desk chair, and press her forehead into the side of my neck. I felt her do this many times in the first year or so after she passed. The folks I live with thought I was a little nuts when I shared this with them. That is untill the lady of the house sat down on the living room sofa where the dog oftewn laid, and found the spot not only warm, but partly covered with the late canine's distinctive bristly hair. It gave us all goose bumps.

Re: spooky...
Whether or not one believes in paranormal, human perception is an extremely complicated process. Our perception is constantly filtering out a huge amount of information in order to quickly let us assess the situation. Sometimes that filtering process gets disrupted (due to fear, illness, emotion, etc.) and strange perceptions filter in.
Whether or not these are true paranormal events, they are definitely "extra-sensory" in the sense that they are not normally perceived.
The danger is that some of these perceptions will cause further fear/emotion that continues to allow more sensory disruptions -- it can be a vicious cycle of fear.
My advice is that if you do not believe in paranormal, just consider it an interesting experiment in human perception.
If you do believe in paranormal, take strength in any of the following concepts: 1) a higher order will protect you, 2) the spirits are really just "people" too allowing interaction that you can handle, 3) the spirits are more like wild animals, dangerous enough to take precautions, but possible to live in proximity, 4) if the spirit is in trouble, perhaps you can help them -- put out signs to communicate your intention.
Hope that helps!

SPLITDIK SEZ...
It is good advice. Spirits are alright. In fact, dead people have never given me any trouble whatsoever and I have yet to meet a dead person that I didn't like...
