n2rf,

Methyldopa is a vasodilater. It neutralizes chemicals in the blood that cause the constriction of blod vessels. In this manner it regulates blood pressure.

Now, your penis is a hydralic system. Anything that affects blood pressure will affect the mechanics of an erection. If you are unable to maintain an erection or if it is not as firm as it needs to be or if it deflates before everbody is through using it then that is probably related as a side effect of the medication if you never had those problems before.

It might get better as your body adjusts or it might not. Whatever you do, do not stop taking the medication. Go back to you doctor and make him or her aware of the problem. You may be able to overcome the problem by medication adjustment. You may need a different medicaiton.

In the mean time, a cock ring that is not too tight might help. Remember if you resort to the cock ring, DO NOT leave it on over 20 minuites and do not get it too tight because it can cause damage. Be aware that minimal brusing sometimes occurs with a cock ring and prolonged use can cause varicose veins to develop. Some like the type that goes around the whole package and some prefer the type that fits over the penis only. A word to the wise, at least trim the jungle because you will pull hair out with these.

Thanks A-1 for the reply which is quite detailed.

I still wonder about BP medication and its effect on the ID and the provess...

Query: when you mention -"should not stop using ..? it reminds me of the text provided by the manufacturer, but why "should I not stop it or start it whenever"

I noted it took several week before a BP change was noticed, so I guess it is a waste of effort to use it only a few weeks at the time. I also noticed it does give you a "calm" and maybe that is good, I suppose. But on the castration question, maybe I will figure this out as well.

I am totally NEW at this "medium" of communication, and will try to comprehend it. Thanks again for the reply and I admire all your skills to convey information and feeling and knowledge etc this way. Maybe I will LEARN . Hi

for now -again THANKS. /N3RF

I too am on BP reduction drugs, Coversyl 8mg per day, and I have noticed that nocturnal & spontaneous erections have ceased, and desired erections are difficult to produce. I do feel calmer as well.

RE: Blood pressure medication.

One who self-medicates has a incompetent physician and a fool for a patient.

Never, ever take medicine or DRUGS that have not been prescribed for you. Besides the fact that it may be illegal, it can have serious consequences.

P.S. you can look almost ANY drug up on the Internet. But I advise against it because when you read the information, it may scare you into not taking it, and if a physician prescribed it, you may need it desperately.

An old thread, but the drugs I take have been prescribed for me. Still calm, but the performance is somewhat recovered from 2004, though my GP did change the diuretic I also take, when I told her of my suspicions that it was not helping the little soldier to stand to attention.
