hi all,is there such thing as a SAFE estrogen taken in small doses?I am going to talk with my ph about a small dose to curve these hot flashes I am having every 30 minutes.Please give me an Idea what works and what doesn't.thanx[twin]

For one, you don't need an overwhelmingly large dose. Also, you may obtain estradiol on the web (best price I've found so far is http://www.globaldrug.tv and it's not listed exactly as estradiol, but you should be able to find it.)

Ask for Estradiol. A 1 to 2 mg dose per diem is usually the post op maintenance level for transsexuals after castration.

You may also want to look up premarin, but I seem to recall that many prefer estradiol to premarin. You only need to take one or the other.

A progesterone such as 10 mg per diem medroxyprogesterone is often taken for about 10-14 days each month with estradiol.

As always, read up on the fact sheets for these drugs and consult with your physician.

Twin, Was Balliess as of May 03, shortly after got the warmies,started on Testosterone Gel-no good. Went back to GP,Started on Testosterone Shots, worked up to 275 Mgs.Has Hot Flashes at that level. Had done checking on the net so went to GP & he started me on Premarin .03 Mgs every onther day,worked that up to .03 OD, then to .625Mgs then to 1.23 all od. My GP sent me to a Endo Specialist. He changed me to Estradiol 1 mg OD.Then to 3Mgs OD. to 3Mgs BID.So far thats the best, still have some HFs but dont last too long.(he said Estradiol has fewer side effects).Told him I stopped my T shots last one July 27,wasnt too happy. Hope he doesnt restart T. Go back to him on the 28, wants Lab Blood work done on (3 days before I return.).Hope he ups it to 4Mgs Bid. Sorry for the long note but thought you should know history. thanx dl,no way in hell I am doing the testosterone thing at all.Like dr kimmel said to me,Why would you defeat the reason for removing the testicles by injecting what your trying to get rid of?testosterone!!!Kimmel strongly recomends against it.And I like the way I am without that hormone.

Bigtwin i was castrated last June and i found that premrin 1.25 a day has helped me both in my mellowness and hotflashes.

Twin, Didnt mean that Testosterone was for you,Just what I had been through.Had been on T. before. Like I said I like the Estradiol. As Andrew says YMWV. Hope I can stay on total E. Take care. dl_ mooney. PS Start small dose & build up as necessary. (E).

a 1-2 mg dose of estradoil (sp) should do the trick. Personnaly, I woyld stay away from Premarin, due to its's nature (compounded from the urine of pregnant mares{horses}).

Twin, Premarin also several other types of Estrogen that humans dont use .Understant you cant get true readings on Lab work.Estradiol has less side effects Endo Dr. says. Lab work picks that one up ok. dl.
