Did you know that certain Native American tribes of the USA once selected boys who were to be the Shaman, or in some cases, the "soft man," and secured him to his horse and made him ride over rough terrain until his testicles were destroyed, thus making him a eunuch? The boy's testicles, not the horse's.

Talking of Red Indian boys, you might like to know that I'm about to start posting a relatively short (for me) story entitled 'White Arrow'. It concerns a white boy, abducted as a baby by Red Indians & brought up as one of their own. Remarkably, by the time the boy is 14, he has already proven himself to be a noble warrior & his name is changed from White Face to White Arrow in honour of this.

Unfortunately, he is then captured by the Iriquois, not a nice people in 18th century America.
