Finding a doctor

I live in Michigan. Earlier today, I called the first twenty phone numbers for urulogists within 100 miles of me asking if the doctor performed voluntary bilateral orchidectomies.
The simple yes or no question, whether a doctor actually does a certain proceedure on a certain basis, was met repeatedly by the receptionists with the same response: "You'd have to see the doctor. His fee is..."
It does seem like asking what proceedures a doctor will perform on a voluntary basis is fair game prior to going in for a consultation for the procedure. After all, if the doctor does not operate under certain circumstances, it does not matter if he can perform the operation or not.
My current plan is to send one letter a week off to doctors explaining the necessity of castration, asking for how to set up a consultation if they are willing to operate under my general circumstances.
Would knocking on their clinic doors be a better plan? After all, my looks place me at an advantage as I'm one of the more attractive ts women in the area and most urologists are men.

The letter sound like the better idea unless you you have your eye on a particularly good looking urologist

At least you would save a good bit of shoe leather and the hassle of getting to each clinic. Also I think you are rite on as far as being able to find out if a Doctor would perform the surgery on a patient with your general circumstances, but the receptionist are there to run interference in many practices. So on one hand while they are telling you the truth about needing to see the doctor in person they are really there to protect his interests not to mention help him make more money. Our current medical system is not very patient friendly especially for us TS and TG girls and boys.

I did a google search on testicular implants and found a couple Dr.s willing to do this procedure for me.
http://www.morganstern.com/
http://www.brucegilbertmd.com/services_testpros.html
The reason I want the implants is that I am on TRT(Androgel) and my testicles are atrophying (shirinking).
The reason for the procedure that Dr. Morganstern is going to put on the Insurance paper work is cronic testicular pain.
This is a valid (mainstream) reason for an orch. I don't know how well you can act (if not an actor I am sure you have a friend that can make them hurt

), but if you go in complaining about a cronic pain that might get you further. Pain is one of those things that cann't be disproved. No one can tell you that you are not in pain. They can say they cannot find the reason for the pain.
Dr. Morganstern does respond to emails. I did get to talk to him on the phone and when I am ready for this he is at the top of the list to do it. (Unless I decide to do it myself, under supervision, with neuticles).
I know a doc is perfered, but there are compentant 'cutters' around that actually care about you and your health.
Good Luck,
Bob
