Some questions from a newbie.

Hello, I'm new here and after doing some quick looking around on the forums I have some questions regarding chemical castration which I am hoping someone may have the answers to.

1) How difficult is it to get a doctor to prescribe the medications for someone who is not tansgendered/transexual?

2) How much does the medication typically cost and is it generally available at most pharmacies?

3) Is there any way that medical insurance can help cover or defer some of the costs in cases for other than direct medical need such as cancer, injury, etc.? (For example, some insurance covers presciptions required in psycological/psychiatric cases. Would this ever qualify?)

Thank you in advance,

MichaelMN

michael,

First I would visit the FAQ page where you can find the good and bad parts of being Castrated.

With that said you will find as most of us have its very hard to find a doctor that will hear you out let alone help.

I used the drug Androcur for a year before going to Philly and Dr Kimmel. Androcur is not available in the USA, so you must buy it from overseas. It is kind of expensive.

Michle i am glad you have found us and as you read i think you may find your answer i know i did.

For your first question i realey didnt have much of a problem because i was honest when i asked for help.

I was fortunate in that my hmo covered my prescription.

Now i know i was fortunate in getting my help but the first thing you need to do is take that first step and ask i know its hard but i know you are tired of this to so gather that courage and take that first step.If your doctor dosent want to help or cant try to find another doctor that will listen to you.

Take care my friend

Thank you both. I do plan on investigating this further on my own.

Actually, I am looking into making an appointment with a doctor who deals with sexual addictions at some time in the near future if I can and see what they might have to say about this. (Honestly if you find "the right doctor" they are usually willing to prescribe anything as long as they get some kind of kickback on it.)

I'm also going to look into exactly what is covered in our work's healthplan under mental health. (This is a little scary as you never know how confidential those things can really be when the insurer gets billed and sends copies of the claims to the company.)

Anyway, thanks for the welcome and help,

MichaelMN
