The response time when clicking links has been rather slow the last couple days.

Well right now I am having fast response times, things that could cause slow response times are usually out of the Archives controll.

There have been a lot of Viruses and Worms causing slowdowns on the entire internet. I know my ISP has been real slow lately but seems like they solved the problem today.

It has seemed fine to me lately although especially heavy traffic could cause a slow down. The Archive server is like the little engine that could. A bit under-powered it still serves millions upon millons of hits! 🙏 👏 😎 😵

Mac,

Send the E.A. $2,500 and you will see better response times... Response times in how fast we can burn up your money!... 😄

I see no problems with my response times... maybe your browser is clogged and your machine is full of dung. Cleanup your house and see if you get better response times.

Take care Mac,

In regards to response time, if you happen to encounter this around 8AM EST USA time, or near 6PM, then it's probably me digging around in the story indexer. When I fire that bad boy up, things SLOW WAY DOWN. Even with high speed access, when index files are being written, it may take up to 20 seconds for me to load another EA page.

That, and if one of us is calling up the server stats, that will cause a slowdown as well. You can't expect to run a race if the mechanic is still under your hood poking around!

As for one's own PC being clogged with whatever, this would not cause a slowdown on ONE site. It would happen to the user at any site.🚬

Things seem to have been running well lately ... I did some tinkering a couple of weeks ago, adding a module that sends out compressed pages to save bandwidth and increase the perceived load time. Even though the compression puts an additional strain on processor time, I am relatively happy and convinced that the smaller file size and lower transfer time make the effective speed faster.
