With reference to the non-fiction thread about Zheng He [above on the noticeboard], to which I'm supposedly unable to reply directly, I should humbly like to remind those interested that, amidst my portfolio of stories submitted to the archive, is one entitled 'Zheng He'!

Zheng He was a great eunuch and an inspiration to all of us who think balls are unnecessary to achieve something in life.

As someone who was voluntarily castrated 4 years ago, I think I can affirm that balls do not make a man. I'm still the man I was when I had balls. The main physiological differences are a ballless crotch and infertility.

Placing ourselves back in the Emperor's court nearly 600 years ago, one of the advantages of being a eunuch is that one is spared the involvement with raising a family, leaving much more time and energy to focus on other things in life. That's one reason so many leaders in both the Ottoman and Chinese courts were eunuchs.
