Hi Marca,
It varys somewhat from person to person, only because depending on the circumstances the procedure for castration may differ somewhat.
I was very sore the first week, then I felt better almost on a daily basis after that. By the third week there was little to no pain. Its been 35 days now since the operation and I am painless and the wound is almost fully healed. My scrotum has been totally removed. This my be different than what you had done.
The fact that your swelling has gone down and the pain is less is a good sign that healing is taking place.
I wish you all the best and a fast recovery

Re: pain after castration
Hi Guys,
I was castrated and had my scrotum removed on 17 Nov. 2003. Dr Kimmel, Dr Spector's associate who did the procedure in Philadelphia, PA, was very thoughtful and considerate and he responded positively when I requested pain meds for probably a month afterward.
I didn't really have any problems with pain as I took the meds every four hours for like the entire month. My stitches opened, from unintended walking immediately after surgery and driving home to NJ the following day, and I worried about a gaping nasty looking wound being permanent. Dr Kimmel responded to my concerns every time I called him, and all has since healed over as he assured me it would. I think my healing was delayed by a few weeks to a month because of the stitches opening.
I can only hope you guys and others wanting to go through this have as positive outcomes as have I. Today I am totally asexual, have a much sharper mind and have not returned to the frequent depressions I had prior to my surgery. My confidence is through the roof and I'm losing weight from eating a much better diet and orange juice by the buckets.
Good luck my eunuch brothers,
Michael

Marca,
I was castrated Sept 6, 2003 by Dr Kimmel I also had the scortum removed. As far as pain I was down the first week, I still had pain the second week but not enough to stop me, It was the third week that I was back in the hospital with an infection (my fault) but even then the pain was not bad. If you have been in this much pain you should be talking to your doctor and finding out why.

Dr. Spector gave me a bottle of pain pills to use as needed. I need one the afternoon of the surgery, as the local wore off., I had my second that night to help me sleep. Next day I returned the unused pills to Dr. Spector and relied on Aleve. (I had a long talk with Dr. Spector on my being a recovered alcoholic, and the need to monitor my pain medication usage.) For my scrotal removal by Dr. Kimmel, I just needed Aleve.

Re: pain after castration
Hi Marca and all the others out there !
I've been castrated on Nov 1st 2003. On the second day after the cut I drove with my car home, about 8 hours. It wasn't too bad, just a discomfort in the area.
I stayed home for the rest of the week, mostly in bed, as long standing was hurting a bit. The swollen sac stretched downwards and so the stitches were pulling.
On the second week, I was back to work, and could stand for 30 minutes without much trouble. But I still was walking slowly. But no real pain. From the 3rd week on, I kept going better each day.
The stitches took a very long time to close, around 5-6 weeks, and a small part of the wound glued itself to something at the interior of the sac. Maybe I'll have to have it fixed in the future. But the rest of the scar is now almost unnoticable.
I enjoy the new feelings of calm and freedom I got from taking this step !
