Dear Friends,

It is with great regret that we must announce to you the recent and unexpected passing of one of our own. Farrell Squire (G. Farrell Squire) passed away this week due to Renal Cell Carcinoma. He was 57.

Farrell penned 46 stories on the archive and was a regular on the bulletin board since 1999. Those of us who have read his work will remember him as an educated and talented man. Some may not know but he was also an accomplished researcher.

This is bitter pill to swallow for all of us whose lives were touched by Farrell but we can take comfort in the fact that our lives were touched by him and thus enriched. He shall be missed.

We are including a note written by his sister that was forwarded to us.

Farrell has been around with us for a long time. He always showed his gentleness, his intelligence, and his dedication to reaching out to this community through this and other forums, and his willingness to contribute as one of our prolific authors.

I am saddened by his passing, but know that the loss is far more ours than his.

Rest in peace Farrell. You have earned it my friend.

Farrell was a thoughtful guy, and you got the feeling that he could express a different angle on anything if he wanted to. It's a little like taking a punch in the stomach, when you realize that someone like him, who added something to life, is gone.

I was very sorry to hear of his untimely death and my sincere sympathy go to his friend and family. We have lost a good friend, but we have the wonderful stories as a legacy to his memory which live on.

What can I say that hasn't already been said?

I have read and enjoyed some (but not all - YET) of his stories, and most of his postings over the past three years. He will be sorely missed.

Talula, since you seem to be in contact with Farrel's family, please do extend our expressions of sympathy and assure them (her??) that there is at least one member, and I suspect many more, who is praying for them in their hour of loss.

I to want to relay my depest sympathy to his famley and although i did not know this man i knew his stories and contrubitions to the archives .And with saddnes my prayers also go out to his family for he is already missed.

I would also offer my condolances to all his family and friends in their moment of grief.
