at long last, the deed is done. chapter 12 of "the prince trains a slave" is finished and submitted. i'd like to thank all the fans of this series for their patience.
this was supposed to be the very last chapter, but there will be at least one more to follow to tie up all the story lines. this will not, however, be the end of the prince series. there are still more sotries to be told and more points of view to be heard from.
anyway, it is submitted and should be posted soon. i hope it brings enjoyment -- i know that i enjoyed writing it.

Right now it must be doing doggy paddle through the tank.
Can't wait until it reaches dry land.

Sorry for the delay.
Work, old people, the dog, kids...you know how that goes!
Yes, there was a backlog in the old tank. I've been on it all evening.
This chapter of TPTaS is as sure to please as any of the rest, and once again, David's imagination in the realm of torture leaves us squirming in our seats and drooling over the prospect of MORE!

Paolo,
I hope that you didn't take my comment as criticism, because there was none intended. I rather like the image of all those little stories paddling around in the tank, like little lost souls, until you come along with a stick with a hook on the end and pull them out.
It is a fact of life that, surprising as it may seem, you have a life outside of the Archive. Like many other people who have commented on this before, I really appreciate the effort that you, Bboy and Talula put in to keep the Archive running.
LOL

This chapter was great!
You know I absolutely love this story, even more than "The Tribes".
What I admire the most is the way you describe your protagonists, both in "The Prince" and "The Tribes". Every single one is defined by unique characteristics - exciting, interesting and yet completely credible.
It almost seems that those characters are alive and act on their free will, as if the course of your story is merely set by their acting and not by the author.
This is a rare treat in fictional literature and a sure sign for a very talented writer.
I can't wait for the day when I will buy your first book and place it on my book shelf, propably somewhere between Philip Pullman and Stephen King.
thanks,
ringlo

you know, i sometimes feel the same way. i spend hours plotting out what i want to happen and then when i'm writind it's like i can hear the charater's voice telling me. "hey asshole, i wouldn't do something like that. i don't care if it moves the story along, i just wouldn't do that -- change it!"
i sometimes work closely with the local theartical groups and know directors who lament the fact that the actors always want to change lines or action that can significantly change the courge of a show. i know that they'd be surprised to find that the fictional characters that i write about do the same thing with me.

thanks ringlo and everyone else for the praise and encouragement. it really feels good to know that others are getting pleasure from what was at one time just a pasttime to get through the day.
i usually spend hours, and sometimes days, developing a new character. before i can write about them, i need to know their physical characteristics -- even those that don't make it into the stories, their mental characteristics and nuances. i figure that if i know the characters inside out, then the reader will have a good mental image of them in their heads when reading the stories.
again, thanks for all the kind words everyone.
