Starting the Androcur

To all of you who have been so helpful:

I've contacted my physician to have the pre-androcur bloodwork done, the Androcur itself was shipped from the UK and should be here early next week. On Friday, I'm visiting a friend who has similar interests and I expect we will have a little celebration when I take the first dose.

I intend to make regular posts here to keep you all informed of how this is going for me; any and all comments are most welcome. I hope someone will allow me to bitch when I get my first hot flash.

To tell the truth, as bad as I'm told hot flashes can be, I can't imagine that they are any worse than waking up at 5AM horny as a goat.....after having had sex the night before. Sigh.

I'll post a pic as soon as I get one scanned.

Santa dropped by today. This morning the mailman delivered my Androcur; just one week from order to delivery, all the way from England. Now I'm waiting for my doc to order up the bloodwork.

Impatiently,

Terry

Last night, having taken care of the bloodwork stuff, I started the Androcur at 100mg a day. After two doses, I don't feel very different. (Impatient? Not me!) But I am excited to have started and I'm looking forward to the changes.

Words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated !

Androcur is use to stop the production of testosterone not destory it.

Your body has a supply of testosterone already in it that has to drop off. I started to feel effects after 6 days. I also started at 100 mg day. Changes will occur at different rates for each of us.

You waited so long to start your road to an eunuch. Give the androcur some time to start.

I wish you all the luck and all the effects that you want form castraion.

Thanks Bobbie, I appreciate your comments. Like most Americans, I'm familiar with the prayer, "God, give me patience. And give it to me NOW." So, I'm being as patient as I can.

Terry, Congratulations on starting and for posting here. You know in theory from your research what is about to happen - correction, what has already started to happen:) - you are on course! The most important

lesson all patients and waiting patients have to learn is to be a "patient

patient". You are daily diluting and not replenishing testosterone now.

Events are underway - a lot of us guys are so happy for you!

Patience; two weeks say will encourage you very happily ;)

Well folks, two weeks of Androcur gave me just what I was hoping for. I was calm, my libido was practically eliminated.....I felt great. The medication kicked in on about the sixth day, and the following week was just terrific. Then the bruising started.

After consultation with my doc and some quick bloodwork, I find that either I was anemic before starting the Androcur, or something about the Androcur affected my circulatory system. Whatever was going on, I started bruising easily and small cuts were taking a long time to heal.

I've stopped the Androcur and I'm hoping things return to normal.

Anyone else have any similar experiences?

Terry

(disappointed, to say the least)

Hi All,

Seems like things are starting to get back to normal; I haven't had a bruise in a few days, and I'm starting to get horny again. I hope to post a longer response in a few days, I have some thoughts about the two very pleasant weeks of Androcur induced serenity.

Best to you all, thanks for your support.

Terry

btw, I have 2 weeks of Androcur if anyone wants it.

Terry,

I'm glad to hear that your bruising has stopped. I am thinking about going on Androcur myself as a trial prior to actual castration (I actually ordered some earlier this week).

How long were you on in total, two weeks? I'm interested in reading your take on the Androcur induced serenity.

Hi JimmyB,

Let me pass along some thoughts. I was on Androcur for two weeks. The first week produced no noticeable results, but about day six, I noticed that I was not horny, not thinking about sex, and generally upbeat. During week two, I felt fine, I had no libido to speak of, I was not getting erect, and I had this very, very nice feeling of well-being, which some have described as a "eunuch calm." I would call it feeling serene. The third week after stopping the Androcur was a bonus, I still was feeling like a eunuch the whole week. Sex drive returned slowly between days seven and ten after stopping the medication.

Please keep in mind: My case is unique (no pun) because you will probably NOT experience the problems with bruising and bleeding that I did. I am of English descent, an all my ancestors are from somewhere in the British Isles. There is an inherited blood disorder called "eliptocyctosis" which fair-haired, light-skinned folks of my ethnic background are prone to. Apparently, the medication exacerbated the existing condition, which resulted in my problems. I should point out that I also have had bleeding trouble (and indeed much worse) when taking even low doses of aspirin. My helpful doc suggests that I try a course of folic acid supplements for a month or so and then try the And. again to see if I still have bruising problems.

Now then, about my few short weeks; in the two weeks that I experienced the full effects, I was extremely pleased. I had new direction in my daily life, I was able to interact with others without mentally evaluating them as potential sex partners, I liked the way I felt, and overall, I got the information I wanted. If those two weeks are typical, I feel much more comfortable about the possibility of making this permanent at some future date.

Hope this info is helpful.

Terry
