Download the customized IRC client at
http://www.eunuch.org/Setup.exe (
http://www.eunuch.org/Setup.exe)
Run Setup.exe (the file you just downloaded)
The BERSIRC IRC client will be install, all preconfigured to connect you to the chat room(s)
Run the BERSIRC program once it's installed
Go to TOOLS/OPTIONS/GENERAL SETTINGS/NICKNAME
Type in your desired nickname
Click OK
If you are connected, disconnect by going to FILE/DISCONNECT
Reconnect by going to FILE/CONNECT
The nickname procedure only needs to be done once.
Thereafter, you will be automatically connected to the chat room when you start the application.
THIS IS A CLEAN INSTALLATION
THERE IS NO SPAM-WARE &
NO SPY-WARE
NO NOTHING BUT AN AWESOME IRC CHAT CLIENT

Hi Bboy,
The BERSIRC IRC client has a pull down window named Favourite channels. There you can select Private chat meeting room. Could this used as a conference area, to join more than two people for a conference purpose, or is it the usual private chat, which is also opened by a double click on a nick of a person?
Thanks in advance for your response.
My best regards

It's actually intended as a meeting room of sorts where people could hook up for private chats ... it doesn't replace the direct person to person chat (ie: like when you double click on a persons name to open a private chat session) but is more of a gather place to say 'hey, I am interested in private chatting"
With that being said, the idea has never worked out very well or benn very popular, so you will probably never see anyone in there.

irc://darkstar1.tzo.com
will attempt to load whatever IRC chat client you have on your computer and connect. If you want to specifiy a room: irc://darkstar1.tzo.com/lobby
Clients and browsers tested to date:
Mirc with Internet Explorer
Chatzilla with Mozilla
There are probably many more, but I haven't the time to test software all day.

Don't take this wrong, but probably, a lot of the Archive chat regulars don't use "chat-speak", or whoever you're wanting to talk has such a hard time with your garbled messages that they gave up.
If your chat is anything like your posts, as far as spelling and punctuation, then you're going to have a hard time finding someone to chat with.

I still cannot get into the chat room. I have tried almost everything, When I get into darkstar1 I get a message that says connecting and the next line says disconnected.
I am not sure what to do next.

Get a hold of Riverwind, the head chat guru.
Every computer is different, and it could be just about anything blocking you. (Especially if you use XP).
