Ok here goes... Another question for all those transgendered, transexuals. I am reading about taking female hormones as the male hormones make me nutsier than when I had my balls. I hate the male ones. so like Andrew Im on Premarin for the chills and gobs of Calcium too. I recently read an article which says that my bladder and my urinary tract will shrink and I will have to urinate more. Does anyone know if this is true???? It also says in this article that when it begins to happen it's not very comfprtable and feels like that dull ache thing. So anyone who knows please let me know. I would like to also know if I wanted to start to transition... How much premarin would I need to be taking. They have me on 1.25 per day now. Scottie

Good one, Salami, but do you have a bullet-proof vest?

You'll probably need it....

I have never heard or read about bladders and urinary tracts shrinking. Why should they? Now your penis may shrink if it doesn't get erections, not even nocturnal erections, but that should not cause you to urinate more.

In my case, being on Premarin for over a year now, I have not noticed any tendency to urinate more. Nor, contrary to popular beleif, do I feel a need to sit down to pee and cry my guts out if I find the toilet seat up.

(Unless, of course, my cat put the toilet seat up. Now that might be a problem.)

Better be careful with those women's hormones! You should guess that you will begin to:

- Grow a big butt.

- Whine for the TV remote control.

- Complain about a headache whenever your mate wants sex.

- Start conversations in the middle of your own thought processes without giving anyone a clue what the hell you're talking about.

- Want a sample of everyone else's meal when eating out.

- Complain that "we never go anywhere anymore".

- Throw a fit when you find a toilet seat up.

- Lose all the remaining common sense you ever had.

- Need a lobotomy so your brain and your body chemistry match.

Scottie,

I have not heard of this either but being that I'm on spironolactone also, I tend to use the bathroom frequently. Spironolactone is a diuretic and removes the excess water from your body, so I have to go more often now. If you were to transition, you may need a higher dose of estrogen for feminizing effects (another YMWV thingy). I'm back to 8mg/day estradiol, with the premarin you may need 2.5mg/day or more. You don't want to take too much because it can be converted back into testosterone (and I know you don't want that!). Only a blood test can determine how much estrogen you need. The 1.25mg of premarin that you are on now, seems like it would be a maintance dose to prevent hot flashes (and possibly give mild feminizing effects).

Well, Scottie, if it were to shrink a bladder, mine aught to be 'bout the size of a marble, but it still holds 'round 14-16 ounces before things start to feel really urgent. I think about 18 ounces - just over a pint, is about max. I don't think this had changed any in the past decade ...

But I do squat to pee ... :D

Good morning to everyone! Im glad that I recieved so many valid answers. I had not heard about that either until I read it. I am on the 1.25 and also an injection of depo-provera 150 mgs once a month given by the doc for just a month or so to make sure the t levels abate and my sanity returns. It is all such a slow process and I do become so very impatient with change, but I know that I have got to get it right slow down and do what Im told. The doc Im going to now, I had to switch docs, is a female and she leans towards the female hormones as a way of claming down. So Ill follow her advise and see what happens. All of your advise was helpful or at least was good for comical relief. Thanxs again, Scottie
