Another posting concerning three (3) cats, which can be safely skipped by those not interested.

Yes, three. Yes, yes; I know, I know. I am supposed to be in deep grief over the death of Pearly. But I had a call from P.A.C.T (People And Cats Together) of Redondo Beach. They had a couple of elderly cats that needed fostering. Not adopting, mind you, just fostering. PACT would pay all vet bills and food bills, and maybe even litter bills. I would take care of them until a permanent home could be found for them. Was I interested?
Several of my AA friends who were also cat owners made it quite clear. If Pearly were able to contact me from the meadows of Rainbow Bridge, it would be her wish for me to take on the two cats who desperately needed a foster home. What would the Goddess Bast have to say? More importantly, what would my Chapter 13 Trustee have to say if he found out? Well, why should she say anything? Today I mailed off monthly payment #12 of 36. I have completed one year of a Chapter 13 bankruptcy with two years left to go.
So today at 1:30 PM, Susie and Peggy showed up at my door with the two cats. They inspected the apartment, and where impressed by the three cat trees, five litter boxes, several scratching posts and pads, and the ten heated beds/pads/cups. We talked about their dietary requirements and other aspects of foster care. We decided to keep the two cats in the spare bedroom with three litter boxes, two scratch pads, the 3 room condo, and the two sets of food and water bowls. This would keep them confined and separate from Conway for a few days.
And Conway? Hard to say. He went to the cats, sniffed them, and that was about it. Then he retired to his east window sill cup to catnap. He will stay in the living room and bedroom (a litter box is in each room) and use the food and water dishes in the kitchen. The two cats will be in the spare bedroom for a few days. Conway will have exclusive visitation rights to me in bed for those few days. This should help speed up acceptance of the new cats.
So say hello to Shadow and Buddy. Shadow is a 15 year old female white and black cat. Buddy is a 10 year old black and white cat. Shadow is about Conway’s size, and Buddy is quite larger
Food: Both thought the Hill’s K/D diet that Conway was on would be OK as their cats’ dry food as well. They did give me an unopened 7.5 Kilogram bag of INNOVA dried cat food, which will also be put out. It is supposed to be a very healthy cat food. I was also given 12 cans of WELLNESS SUPER5MIX cat food. This will be given to them twice a day, about 5 AM and 5 PM on my schedule. I was told to mix in plenty of water with the canned food to make sure the cats did not become dehydrated.
I have been in and out of the room all afternoon, mostly petting and playing with Shadow. Buddy has retired to the enclosed space of the condo and is just looking out. I set out two of the heated beds on the floor of the spare bedroom, in case they would want this sort of comfort. So now we wait.
